As an LSU fan, why should I want Kiffin? Honestly, I don't.

I won't consider it some great coup if we get Kiffin. He seems to develop QBs well, but he also seems to mismanage games, be erratic in his play calling, won't stick with the run when Alabama is pounding teams, and tries to get too cute with his play calling. His rhythm for the game seems to be lacking and that is what Saban is always chewing him out about. Saban is not a great offensive coach, but he knows football and what should be done and Kiffin seems to have no real feel for it.
Plus, his character issues.
I think Alabama could do a lot better than Kiffin. I think LSU could too. I honestly have no idea why Saban has him there and why he has stuck with him for 3 years. The Alabama offense is good, but not great.
What am I missing here? Why should I be happy about Kiffin?

i would definitely rather Canada from Pitt but after Miles/Cam anything is a big upgrade.

I agree. He's done a solid job for us and I wouldn't be looking to replace him, but if he wanted to go somewhere else I wouldn't be heartbroken. I'd like to see someone who is more committed to balance than the pass heavy offense he wants to run.
Before he came to Bama, I thought he was an entitled douche. Once he came, I have softened my opinion and respect his talent as an offensive mind. But I haven't changed my mind SO much that I would be crushed or angry if he left.

Well, yeah, he would be an upgrade from Miles/Cam.
But, if O's selling point is getting the best coordinators, why is Kiffin in the conversation? Aranda's defense held them to 10 points. Some of that was from Alabama's poor play calling too, I think. Once they started running the ball up the middle in the 4th quarter, they had better success. I could have told them that that was our weak spot, even with Beckwith. Why did it take Kiffin 3 quarters to figure that out?

i think you can give him a pass this year bc he's got a true frosh qb who is limited on what he can do down the field

Are we really in a position to be picky about a new OC with an open, innovative offensive mind?

LSU faithful better lock up Kaylee. If Kiffin goes to LSU, he's going to de-flower her.
Kaylee is a national treasure. That can't be allowed to happen.

Kiffin is fabulous OC, if LSU gets him. He will add a new dimension to your offense. It just his time ran his course in T-Town. That being said so many of LSU posters have criticized Kiffin prior and during his time under Saban but want him as an OC now.

Firstly, I think there's almost zero chance he'd go to LSU unless it was a "mutual agreement" (Saban tells him to start looking). And, I don't see that happening.
Otherwise, I mostly agree with you. He's been good, but I'm also not a huge fan of his offense (personal style preference). I won't cry when he leaves, unless he's replaced by someone totally inept.

He's about to win his third consecutive SEC title and perhaps second consecutive natty.
Yeah, you definitely don't want him. 8-4 every year is much better

eta: all with a converted RB, a transfer, and a true frosh

Bama fans laughed at Kiffin for years and melted when he was hired so spare me the indignation.

If LSU mouth-breathers are okay with a guy that sucked arse at Ole Miss...then should be okay with a guy that had kicked arse at Bama.

As an Alabama fan I thought he'd be a disaster but have been pleasantly surprised.
I obviously appreciate the dynamic aspect he's brought to our offense and you can't argue with results.
3 years, 3 playoff births, 3 SEC titles (likely) and possibly a 2nd national title.
Having said that, I still wish we were more old school, not just for nostalgia, but I think it'd be more effective when our offense is sputtering sometimes.

Kiffin has a little Malzahn in him where he tries to keep going with the same play sheet no matter what. The difference is Kiffin has better players on both sides of the ball and eventually changes plays.

Yeah all this^^^^
I don't get why Kiffin has caught so much flak this year. The play calling hasn't been bad it's the execution with a true freshman that hasn't been clicking at times....
...and Kiffin runs a lot o stuff to guage a defense's tendencies and runs them sideline to sideline knowing they don't have the depth. He dials up the adjustments and then returns to pounding the rock more usually with Scarbrough. Kiffin does know that he has the luxury of the defense that can bail him out so I think he is inclined to take more chances.
Whatever his faults may be, the guy is a quarterback whisperer and a hell of an offensive mind.

I'd rather Kiffin over everyone we've had
