I think it had to do with some on this website ignorant enough not to realize that, with only 7 years in the SEC, we hate OU more than BAMA. shocking.

although that should change as the years go by.

Unfortunately for you it is. Some programs just don't have it.

Also your road is much tougher than Clemson's. Not only you have to deal with the SEC West but with Texas and OU looking much better than A&M (and bigger brands) you are still an also ran in your own State. OU isn't in Texas but mostly gets its players from Texas so they belong in the argument.

Yes Jimbo is recruiting well but so did Sumlin. He left behind a pretty decent roster.

Did you think Clemson "had it" as recently as 2014?

Texas looking much better than A&M? In what way? This is the first year since 2011 they've had a better record than A&M (10-4 to 9-4). And sure OU has had some success, but they've gotten dick slapped on the national stage. Btw A&M is ahead of both in recruiting.

And no, Sumlin did not recruit this well. Sorry to disappoint you. The one really good class he had (2013) was one of the most epic flops of a recruiting class I have ever seen.

How old are you?

They won a MNC in 1980 or 1981.

Before they added Florida State they had the ACC all to themselves as the only football school

No front running college football fan ever said "college football is better when Clemson is good" like they do with Michigan or USC or Texas

No fan ever said this either, that is mostly the media and their bias to certain schools. As for media, you do realize ESPN is a media company and they love the ACC because when they were starting up it was the only current P5 they could get a broadcast contract with.

If they can do it anyone can

I am old enough to remember the last time they did and the NCAA investigations and sanctions that followed.

I didn't have a dog in the hunt.. I was more interested in the fact that it was a landslide. I felt that Bama was the better of the two teams we played, and I expected a close game. It just goes to show that transitive property does not apply in football.

The other example to look at is Florida. They have no conference titles prior to 1991 (one in 1984 was stripped by the NCAA). They had some good teams, and as the state and school grew, you figured they had to get it going at some point, but never really got over the hump until they hired the right coach. People of a certain age may think of them as a blue blood now, but that's not their history at all.

Florida is maybe not the best example. While Spurrier gets the credit he inherited the foundation Pell and Hall built over about a decade or so. It also helped that Free Shoes was a girls college and Miami did not really exist till Howard developed thug ball. Problem is now all have built out and now chase the state fro recruits from 3 P5's instead of just 1. State of TX has lots more P5 mouths to feed which means less opportunity to create a monopoly for any 1 TX school.

Viewed another way, imagine if Ohio State had to share the state of Ohio with say Cincinnati after WW II. With the monopoly in OH they could do better than with the completion from another P5.

Honestly, it’s hard for me to think of ATM as an SEC school - I forget sometimes.

Are you serious? For starters they just completed a better season with a higher final ranking and a marquee bowl win. Also had a relatively recent run of significant success that included a NC and several 10 win type win seasons in a row.

We just haven't seen A&M do any of that. Ever. (1920 or whenever A&M won their Championship was for all intents and purposes a different sport.)

They are and will always be a bigger better brand and a more successful football program. Only Aggies fail to se this.

They act like punk arse brats. Definitely more in line with the animosity seen by ull.
In fact, is A&M simply an grown up version of ull? Sure seems like it.

Someone said the same thing about Clemson at some point I bet.

Not if the SEC keeps declining. OU and Texas are irrelevant to this discussion when we don't play they on the field and we beat them in recruiting.

Yeah I'm serious. A&M has been the better program for the last 10 years, period. It's not even a discussion (and we haven't even been that good). The kids being recruited now don't remember Colt's injury in the NC game.

And I'm sorry, Texas' 2018 season was not better than A&Ms. They were about equal if we are being honest. I wish Georgia would have given a shite.

I agree with the post above me and the OP. A&M is much the same as LSU was pre Saban but better. If LSU could climb the hill, so can A&M. LSU sponsored AM into the SEC for a reason even though they knew it would somewhat hurt recruiting.
