I see a lot of Auburn fans say “without question” and that gets read in Gene Chizik’s voice.

But that’s the point of the article. Auburn is a unique, special place with mostly good people. It’s the few big money men that frick things up.

I do find this uniquely Auburn. I know Jeff Lebos daughters went to Auburn a few years after he was fired as their coach.

Well if Bowden was banging Lowder’s daughter he only has himself to blame….Lowder is the one that set her up with Bowden at Samford, he even donated to Samford athletics in the equivalent of her salary…so he essentially PAID her.

And etc. as far as paying players. It’s nice Auburn had a ledger for him to keep it organized.
And most schools have meddling boosters as well. My understanding is when Sabin was hired he said stay out of my way or I’m not taking the job. Good for him to get out in front of it right away. And since he’s done great I assume they have stayed out of the way.
But Texas and Auburn are prime examples of their boosters killing their programs the past 10-15 years. They require too much attention and it has too drive the coaches crazy.

State fired Rick Stansbury in 2012 and a year or two ago his son came to State to walk-on the basketball team. Still here.

I think Harbert has been the biggest problem the last 5 years. He's the one who pushed for Malzahn's extension.
