Cocks weren’t lying. Neither school in this state wanted any part of him.

The woman and Thompson agreed to a mutual one-year restraining order in April 2018.

Kinda pertinent, wouldn't you say?

Yeah, he agreed not to hit her if she agreed to not be near enough for him to hit her.

Yeah, the argument that the woman was mean to the football player normally doesn't garner much sympathy. If she filed for a restraining order on the grounds that he threatened her and her boyfriend's lives, then "mutual" sounds like he or his family said, "Well keep her away from me too". And she said, "Fine, that was my intent after he threatened me".

What's pertinent is who felt threatened enough to seek legal protection to begin with.

It's not just a PR problem. If he ever makes the news for a documented case of assault, or worse, Pruitt, Fulmer and UT are the ones at risk. Seems like rolling the dice that are loaded against you.

This is an excellent point. With the recent incident at UT, the restraining order in SC, plus what is alleged (the reasons Muschamp pulled his scholly offer), how bad will it be for Fulmer, Pruitt, etal, if this kid is put back on the team then does something where a female is physically harmed at UT? We’re talking major PR damage and you could see someone lose their job (Fulmer? Pruitt?).

Got to boot him. Don’t want a Last Boy Scout to occur on the field. In all seriousness, this is not about PR but about getting someone who probably rooms at the Bates Hotel off your team.

Isn’t there more to life than football? This kid needs to serve some time, if these allegations are true, and get the shite beat out of him by someone much larger and stronger.... he’s a talent, but no matter what team he’s on, it’s not worth it to keep him. He could be the difference between 12-0 and 0-12 for SC and if this is found to be true, I’d rather see an 0-12 season than have this piece of scum on my squad

I think that's where we differ from a lot of teams tbh. I'd rather have athletes that are decent, respectable young men with quality character and us have an empty trophy case than a bunch of thugs and dozens and dozens of championships.

It's amazed me for years how much our two programs are alike, this point is yet another one of the many ways.

When the SEC originally expanded they couldn't have picked a more balanced pair for each division. Not that this thread has much of anything to do with it, your comment just reminded me

Don't kid yourself, every football team has plenty of troublemakers and that dates back to the beginning of the sport. If you're not hearing about it, that means it's being covered up, sometimes even with cooperation from local law enforcement. Some programs are more aggressive about weeding out the problems, but that usually varies over time depending on who's running the team.

The bulk of fans almost always want leniency when one of their players gets in trouble, if they can find any plausible rationale to justify it. The more important the player, the more convinced they are that he should get one more chance. Then once the offender is gone, they say "good riddance".

Sue the school for what?

She was a year ahead of him. They had basically felt like they escaped his crazy arse when she went off to college. They had tried getting away and they tried a restraining order which was supposed to keep him away from campus ..... but if he was signed to a scholarship, that was a mute point so they were willing to sue to make such a public issue of it that it couldn't be ignored.

mUSChamp really wasn't aware of the kid's long history of alleged sexual abuses and other stuff, but the moment he spoke with the parents of the one girl and then several others, they dropped him immediately. And he went to Tennessee and everyone wished him well and hoped that him getting away from the girls down here would give him a second chance.
