they also make fun of his death.
I hear it all the time. Talk about digging his body up, Auburn fans having skeletons dressed up like him.
Auburn fans laugh about him. Alabama fans consider him a great man and he is part of our tradition, that is why we wear houndstooth.
So if Auburn fans can disrespect our tradition, we can disrespect theirs.
I hate vandalism of all kinds. But the killing of a tree and the digging up of a body is completely different.

I'm well aware of why they do it, still does not make it right. The man is dead, he still has family/friends alive today.
I can't believe you are defending it.

Based on your two responses it is quite clear you have poor reading comprehension. However, bad posts are common with you.

Screw your trees and the tradition behind them. Is that better?

I know for a fact that whitepages and 411.com are unreliable. I have to use it from time to time for work and its a crap shoot.
I once looked up my name and it had my grandmother listed as an occupant in my home when shes been dead for over a decade and never even lived in the same city as me let alone the same house.
And then they bait you into registering, which only gives you more unreliable information. Lexis Nexis FTW!!

There is only one Bear Bryant and everybody knows it. Thats besides the point.I cant speak for anybody else, but I know I was always taught to respect the dead PERIOD
But then again, dont let respecting a dead man get in the way of trying to look cool on a frickin message board.
I understand that some peoples lives turn on and off with a comp screen so in a sense the ones who are doing the disrespecting of the Bear or anybody else are probably the most miserable people any of us will ever encounter in are lives.
Mostly though, any comments like that would just make me think "it obviously sucks to be you"

I can't agree with this at all. What he destroyed can't be replaced.
Is that why AU has been growing replacement trees?
What he did was wrong, but u ppl are over the top with this shite.

quote:Live Oaks are more suited for coastal (or near coastal) locations. This is the reason that you see the HUGE live oaks in Mobile, Charleston, Savannah, etc. Auburn is, admittedly, not an ideal location for the trees and as suc they haven't grown nearly as large as they could have.quote:
I hate that the tree was poisoned, but Auburn was slowly killing the tree anyway.
i admit... i look at this LINK and find that this tree is pretty small for a 130-yr-old live oak. Maybe the growth has been stunted for decades?
Also, when the streets were paved and the sidewalks built, the trees were virtually incased in concrete. Go back and look at a picture of Toomers 15-20 years ago and now. When it was realized that the trees were under such stress and were unhealthy, a lot of work was done. The sidewalks were pulled back and the bedding areas around each tree were created. Also, there was an adjustment made in amount and pressure of the water used to remove the TP after celebrations.
Were the trees eventually going to die or need to be removed? Yes, but not for another 15-20 years or more and a plan was in place to replace them when that time came.

Exactly. It was coming anyway. Plant some more and move on. The justice system will handle this guy.

HOLY shite!!! could you imagine if this happened at Stanford? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Posted on 2/17/11 at 10:11 am to PJinAtl
saying the tree was going to die slowly is no excuse for someone to maliciously come in there and poison it because they hate the school
and bear bryant jokes can be tasteless but it's still just a joke... that's different from an action
tasteless jokes in poor taste are free speech... poisoning a tree or excavating a grave are criminal

Way to jump to conclusions but I live my life by a code of honor and respect. I never make fun of dead people, I have experienced it first hand.
You also must have missed the part where I stated, no one is making fun of the man Paul Bear Bryant for being dead just simply the fact that you Bama fans see him as a god practically.
