No. It would be incredibly stupid. We are the raiders under Al Davis, we suck but make money.
I dont know if that sounds like what college sports should be

Is this being actively considered.
It’s become undeniable Arkansas’ powers that be aren’t committed to trying to win a SEC championship. If they truly care about winning but just don’t have the resources to compete in the SEC, then I wouldn’t be surprised if this were considered. If they don’t care much about winning and are happy to just cash SEC checks, then they probably aren’t considering it.
But let me say this - this is the first time in my life I’ve felt like a huge chunk of the Arkansas fan base is close to letting go of the rope completely on Arkansas football. There’s so much damage being done to the fans’ morale and expectations that I wouldn’t be surprised if we struggled to average more than 50k attendance in our 76k capacity stadium next year. We are staring at another shitty season coming our way in ‘24, likely being followed by a new coach having a serious rebuild, and no hope of 7+ wins until 2026 season at the earliest.
If we replaced Pittman today with a competent head coach and moved to the Big 12 starting next year, we could have a chance at a winning season next year and start talking about competing for a conference championship in ‘25.

Get a coach you can get behind and give him time.
I think its opposite these days. It will never happen but contracts need reset and the only way to do it is incentive driven with low base. Recruiting will slowly not matter as its what you can give them and not a relationship building process.
There is a huge list of changes that need made. Players need to lose their education benefit, players need held accountable if they dont perform and held accountable if they want to transfer.
This is why I hated players wanting money because its destroyed the amateur aspect.

The history has shown that Arkansas hasn't made the commitment to football since joining the SEC.
What makes you think that Arkansas is all of a sudden getting to show commitment to football by moving to a conference full of members who have already made that pledge?

They wouldn't come close to winning the Big 12.
Keep in mind Arkansas lost to Big 12 member 5-7 BYU at home.
They need to join the SWAC.
I mean maybe Pittman isn't the guy now but if Baylor and K St can then Arkansas absolutely can. Gundy would be the biggest obstacle but that's nothing compared to the biggest obstacles in the SEC.

You may need to step away from message boards for awhile. There are plenty of real fans out there who don’t share the doom and gloom sentiment and are rational about things that happen.
The sky isn’t falling and the world isn’t ending tomorrow.

Arkansas showed they were invested in trying to win when they paid to fire Ford, Nutt, Bielema, and Morris when it was apparent that needed to happen.
Refusing to fire Pittman is the first time Arkansas has really shown they aren’t committed to winning.

How do you project Arkansas over the next 2 seasons?

As far as coaches, a contract should mean something. If they leave, contract is null and void with no buyout. Same for CEOs for corporations but that’s another topic.
For players they get a huge benefit from a free education. Unfortunately, the tv deal money coming in made that secondary. I can’t blame them after watching some of my friends play football and while trying to get an education. It’s difficult as programs demand more of their time.
I loved the amateur aspect, but that is long gone. It is what is and coaches need to figure out how to embrace it. This will continue to evolve.

Letting Ken Hatfield go and Frank hiring an OC with no head coaching experience was the first time that Arkansas showed signs of being less committed to football.
Hatfield wins an ACC title at Clemson.
Crowe lost to the Citadel and gets canned the next day.

Bama to the Sunbelt is guaranteed playoff berth for life. Do it!

Those are some very solid teams in the Big 12 that are currently better programs than Arkansas.
Without some form of commitment, Arkansas would be a loser in all power 5 conferences.

Just my two cents, media is your biggest obstacle and creates unrealistic expectations. Without any other teams to cover, a lot of focus and cottage industries reliant on football team.
The media continues to pump expectations to keep fans engaged. When expectations aren’t met, fans want change. Hence, a new coach every 3 or 4 years. Arkansas needs to find a coach they believe in and be patient. Don’t believe everything you hear from the local experts .

If the commitment by the powers that be is to operate on the cheap then they will get what they pay for no matter the coach. If sam is given the resources to compete with the other teams for players and money to get a good OC then he has proven he can win.
I’m going to be optimistic because I’m a fan of the program and negativity won’t help a damn thing. In fact it has to help kill recruiting. Kids read that ignorant crap.
If it don’t pan out we’ll move to the next dude the internet wants to fire in 4 years I guess.
In the mean time we can look forward to the fire Musselman threads, then the fire Van Horn threads.

Unrealistic expectations?
If expecting a 7-5 season from this football team is an unrealistic expectation then I don't know what would be realistic expectations.
Arkansas has one of the worst sports media in the nation. Covering Arkansas and pumping the sunshine is all they can do. But none has ever pumped it up to a level of expecting to be some elite football program.
They have to keep the fans engaged because that is how money is made.
Arkansas gave Nutt 10 years.
Petrino would be here just as long had he not been an idiot.
Bert was here five years.
Sam is getting a fifth year.
Chad was fired after two seasons. Should Arkansas wait and give him two more years just to get a single SEC win?
Patience isn't a problem but bad hires are.

Bert wasn’t a bad hire, especially with his resume and situation after Bobby and John L. His problem was he let go and then his wife got pregnant. His attention shifted after a couple good seasons.

True, plus Sam left and there was no one left to do his job for him.

Yeah, it’s the negative message board posters and not enough NIL money that caused this shitshow of a season…
