I graduated from Texas in 1997, but I have been a fan since I was born, therefore I am completely biased. That being said, I want to play the game.
Reasons to Play the Game
1) It is one of the best college football rivalries of all time.
2) College football is better when games like this are played every year.
3) This game would benefit the State of Texas and help both schools with recruiting.
4) It brings great bragging rights for an entire year when your team wins this game.
Reasons to NOT play this game
1) It completely sucks to lose this game. It is all you hear about for a year.
That pretty much sums up the entire argument for both sides. I have a lot of friends on both sides of this game, and I have NEVER met a graduate from either school that doesn’t want to play the game. I’m sure they exist outside of the internet, but I have yet to meet one in person.
As to the argument that Texas NEEDS this game. That is complete bull$hit. Both teams need this game for the reasons listed above.
Texas can easily replace the game with Arkansas, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, etc. This is exactly what our future schedules look like. If it were up to me, I would play these games and also play A&M instead of some group of 5 school.
Both schools recently asked the student body to vote on the topic, and the results proved that a large majority at each school want to play the game.
TLDR: Every single fan of either team that says that they don’t want to play the game is the following:
1) Not a graduate of that school
and/or
2) A complete pu$$y.

Well we do post about other things, too. But y’all are such an adorable, soft target that it’s low hanging fruit. If y’all weren’t so undereducated and had less inferiority complex, you might be able to respond to facts I stated several pages ago.
If you have to convince yourself you’re “big brother” despite not having a head-to-head advantage in literally any aspect of your school (minus women’s soccer, WHOOP), then you’re going to come across as delusional. Eh, that guy was actually being fairly reasonable. Especially compared to some of the other Texas fans that post here.
I agree with this overall remarks about alumni from the schools.

Why do you think that Texas needs this game? On what planet does that make sense to you?
In 2021, we are playing Arkansas instead of Texas A&M. Do you really think that isn’t a big game for either team? I would love to play Arkansas every year. That’s a rivalry game for both schools.
In 2022, we are playing Alabama in Austin instead of playing A&M. Seems like a good replacement game to me..

As for our TV coverage, that is true for one reason, and one reason only. Texas has mostly put out a crappy product on the field since 2009.
A good Texas team draws eyeballs against whoever they play.. and Texas will be good again. It could be this year or it could take a while, but you are a fool to think otherwise.
