So clearly intentional. Clint was bought off and you'll never change my mind
As I've learned more about organized crime and gambling, I have come to realize that these kinds of things happen far more than I ever wanted yo believe.
Go watch former Columbo crime Capo Michael Franzese talk about sports fixing. LINK LINK LINK
Look at how Stoerner goes full Cam Newton after the fumble. It's slow motion, yes, but it's also a very very bad look.
We'll never know. All I know is, it's on the Mt Rushmore of CFB blunders.

I knew Clint at the time, and I can tell you by his behavior and feelings afterward that there was NO WAY it was intentional.
He took it extremely hard for years, it effected his whole personality inside and outside of football. I felt horrible for him because he was actually a good guy that took tbe time to hang out with 12 year old me and my brother and cousin, who were huge Razorback fans and fans of his.
He lived down the street from my grandparents and would come over and throw a football in the yard with us any time we went, and showed up to family dinners and holidays like thanksgiving.
He was a good dude even at that age, and was never quite the same after that.

He's basically the Bill Buckner of College Football. I don't know how you ever get over that. He probably thinks about it every day if his life.

What folks don't remember is Clint threw a late td pass to beat Tennessee the next year.

This is the Texas fan pretending to be a Vol. No Vol fan is excited about any game this season. We'd be happy if COVID cancelled the rest just so we didn't have to see Guarantano steal the life from us another few games.

Everyone gets a free year so hopefully he’ll come back next year. Then Covid will hit again and he’ll get another. JG gonna be there 10 years.

I know what it is like to feel existential dread when you contemplate the idea of the next game started by a bad QB.
Only in our case it was much worse because those QBs would go somewhere else, turn into good players, and come back to lay a thunderous beating on us.
If you think JG is bad now imagine him transferring to Memphis and coming back next year to hang half a hundred on you.

The vols have just suffered 3 beatdowns in a row of epic proportions and barely pulled out a close one vs the Bye week and they want to let a west division team know "they coming."
What is that West record this past decade up to now?

Who bought him off and how did he get the word to turn the ball over?
Or the fix was in pregame?

What would be his motivation to do so?

He got his foot stepped on by his offensive guard (Bullsworth) who was getting his arse handed to him. Bullsworth took two huge steps backwards before making contact with UT's DT. Not wanting to speak ill of the dead, but the fumble is as much on Bullsworth (probably more) as it is on Stoerner.
Storerner's body was turned so that he could either try to catch himself with his hand holding the ball, or just go down. He was trying to salvage the play and it ended up in a fumble. There is no way it was intentional.

Yup, the most reasonable and sensible explanation.
It's like the JFK assassination. It simply couldn't be a man and his rifle.
