It seems like they really need a Briscoe type kid who won’t tolerate crap like not even bothering with transition defense. Too much beta and not enough alpha with this crop. I like the kids but hate the team. Painful.

I'd be surprised if SGA stays. He'll be a Top 20 pick.

Knox may be streaky but he's the closest thing UK has this year to a stud (besides SGA). He's won UK a few games by himself (WVU comes to mind). That's a big loss. Who does UK have on their roster who could replicate his production?

I kinda expect a few head-scratching decisions as well. It wouldn't surprise me if Washington, Richards, Gabriel, or Vanderbilt leaves.

The guards UK has coming in from the 2018 class are nice but it's the same problem as the 2017 class -- they're two+ year players who committed to UK thinking the machine will get them to the NBA in one.

Thinking about next year's SEC is interesting.

Auburn and Tennessee should be the favorites with most of their teams returning likely.

Bama and Texas A&M will definitely lose Sexton/Williams but both could still be good depending on the decisions of guys like Hall and Davis.

UK is a mystery but they won't be elite.

Florida loses Chiozza and Koulochev. Allen and Hudson could go, too. Might be a rebuilding year but still could be pretty good depending on how Nembhard/Okauru play at PG.

Mizzou might have a tough time replacing Robertson but their frontcourt should still be really good.

Mississippi State is probably a dark horse to win the league. Peters playing well recently is huge for their future.

LSU and Vandy should take steps forward with their recruiting classes. If Waters comes back LSU should have tourney expectations.

South Carolina still will be light on talent but they'll have most of their team back.

Arkansas will be in heavy rebuilding mode.

UGA and maybe Ole Miss will have new coaches. Ole Miss might be decent if they retain Kennedy.

Knox is supposed to be a very good scorer but hasn't proven it much yet outside of a couple games. He's a liability on defense. He won't be as big of a loss as some think. The other shooter we were supposed to have hasn't played a minute all year due to an injury so having him next year will help.

SGA has by far been our best offensive player of the 3 mentioned earlier(and he was the lowest rated), it would suck to lose him. Pair him up with Green next year or one of the freshmen and that's a solid backcourt. But I'm 50/50 on whether he stays or goes. Wouldn't surprise me either way. I think his game is built for the NBA.

I think Washington is back, same with Richards and Gabriel. Vanderbilt is a head scratcher because he shows so much potential but can't find anything offensively. He seems like he's almost there and we all know the NBA drafts on potential. It'll all play out one way or another and U.K. fans will just have to roll with it from there.

ETA: if we only lose Knox and Diallo our team next year could be pretty damn good. We have an overseas trip this Summer that will help them get acclimated.

Keep in mind K had been running a machine for decades before this period. Cal took over for Gillespie.

I stand by my statement: arguable.

When you transitioned to "overall body of work," I assumed that meant, well, overall body of work.

Besides, K has, what, a dozen years on Cal in terms of being an HC. Think Cal would make up those extra four national titles in that time? And, no, Duke wasn't Duke when he took over. I think they had a few good years in the '60s, but they certainly weren't anything close to a national power.

Curse you for making me say nice things about the Evil Blue Rodentface.

Sorry, following my syntax is often a chore. It took me a second to piece together the original post. K had taken over like 30 years before that timeframe. I just mean he already had a machine in place. And while he didn’t take over a juggernaut he did take over a program that was on the uptick. Over the last 10 years, apples to apples, I don’t think the decision is that easy to make.

I go back and forth. On the one hand, he’s frustrating and it would be satisfying to fire him. On the other, who the frick is better that we can get (so basically, not Coach K)?

I like to read rupp rafters when Kentucky isn't living up to expectations. Those fans are the most obnoxious of any fan base, it's quite entertaining watching them melt.

He's not being allowed to cheat anymore so everyone is catching up to him... UK will be lucky to make it to the NIT next year.

Well, our basketball team may suck, but at least Stoops is expected to get us to 9-3 next year with a good shot at a division title if they can beat Georgia. Things can’t be that bad....
