Kind of a conundrum

A lot of Alabama fans have a weird hatred for UAB. I know not all of them do, and some of them probably really support UAB. But there is a loud contingent of their fanbase that is always hating on UAB.

Too busy prepping another Husky Harsin can’t recruit thread.

Let’s go Blazers! I think most of the hate is for the football program.

This still makes no sense at all.

Don’t know but feel confident that aggies are pulling themselves right now.

Absolutely pulling for them. Grew up going to Blazer basketball games.

I personally don't really root for or against UAB in anything, but if they win a big game (like a 12/5 upset in the NCAAT) I think it's pretty cool.
Why would you think we'd have trouble pulling for them?
Are they stealing our recruits?

Why? Maybe you believe too much of what you read on this board.

"UAB’s under the control of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees, and there’s lots of anecdotal evidence that this group doesn’t care much for the Blazers:
UAB tried to hire future Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, but funds were denied at the 11th hour with no public comment.
UAB played in one of the most decrepit facilities in FBS, city-owned Legion Field. A proposal for a small stadium was denied as "the wrong project at the wrong time."
Coach Bill Clark created a plan for a $10 million practice facility funded substantially through private donations, replacing fields that routinely flooded. The mayor supported the project. The board never approved it, but months after killing football, greenlit a $4.5 million soccer complex.
When a local business arranged to upgrade practice turf at no cost, UA trustee Finis St. John had the project killed, according to an AL.com report.
In 2011, St. John implied publicly that UAB shouldn't have athletics. St. John and others feel the medical school should be UAB's focus, not football. In the state of Alabama.
UAB fans believe the trustees encourage a cycle of defeat in order to preserve focus on the Crimson Tide. When the trustees claimed UAB hadn't built enough support to warrant a stadium, fans used the Fisher denial to argue they never had a chance.
The idea here is that Alabama trustees want to hold down UAB for the benefit of the Crimson Tide. UAB’s Watts made the call to end the program, but the trustees probably had a fair bit of behind-the-scenes influence leading up to it. "

If anything it might be UAB fans who wouldn't pull for Bama. That would not be unusual to me.

Hell yeah it does.
1. They’re a leech on the entire system. Their entire AD is, in fact.
That’s really no issue to me, I didn’t care, until:
2. When their program was disbanded, they blamed big bad daddy bammer and the Alabama Football program for supposedly intentionally sabotaging them.
And
3. Because of the shared victim complex, every Auburn fan between here and Taipei became lifelong UAB supporters in order to throw a little shade at daddy bammer. This is unsurprising, as they both also share the similarity of having a majority of their fanbase come from people who just want to be different and not be bammers.
So, frick UAB. It wouldn’t bother me a bit if they never played another second of football, or any other sport. Most importantly, frick Auburn.
Hope this helps.

Most UAB fans are completely delusional. It was awesome that the City and everyone rallied around the school and the sports program after the football program got shut down, but they just entered the AAC and the football program is right back to irrelevance and plays to a nearly-empty stadium every week. A lot of my fellow alums felt that UAB could fill out the new Protective Stadium because of the smaller capacity. It just hasn't happened. The sad reality is that people do not care about UAB sports.
The most ridiculous part of all of this is the area raised a bunch of money to bring the cancelled sports back, and now in the age of NIL money UAB still can't bring in a full recruiting class. At least they got into the AAC, I guess.

There is no evidence for that. It's just tin-foil hat nonsense.

It seems pretty clear that the overwhelming majority of people agree.
