The playoff games are the ONLY games that matter. Perhaps one day Bama will not be in the playoffs and then we will see what happens as far as players electing not to play.

I was using him as an example. Injuries may have been a factor, but I bet most LSU fans would consider his junior season to be underwhelming.

That’s why an extra game would still be beneficial. He’d get to prove himself worthy of being a top 10 pick against good opposition.

Just like the Sugar Bowl against OU. It didn't matter at all to Alabama so they didn't show up

Bama competes for nattys. They didn't care for a reason. LSU has no reason not to care.

Are you ok with him shutting down for the last 2 or 3 games of the season, since would have been eliminated from the playoffs? I don't think he would be because those are games that matter

In what way do those games matter if the team is already eliminated from the playoff picture?

So how would you feel about a guy that is a sure first round pick, and his team gets a 3rd loss. Are you ok with him shutting down for the last 2 or 3 games of the season, since would have been eliminated from the playoffs?

Yes. He's not getting paid to play in college.

Who gives a shite? I predicted he would lay down back in the summer and was slammed for it. You can dress it up however you want to. To borrow a quote from Lesticles...."no chest!!!"

This is just moronic. The 2008 and 2013 Sugar Bowls and the 2010 Cap One Bowl were just as meaningless...and you had zero Bama players refuse to play.

Maybe it has happened, but I don't remember any players getting hurt in a bowl game to the point they could not go to the NFL.

AGAIN, maybe it has happened and I don't remember a serious injury in a bowl game. Seems odd if it has not happened, though.

A lot of guys were injured most of the season and that was one of the few games where they were healthy.

Andre Smith should have sat 2008 out, but he ended up being suspended anyway.

Look at it anyway you want, but they’re on scholarship to play football for the university. Those degrees are worth thousands of dollars and it comes across as a slap in the face to sit out a “meaningless” bowl game.

Not just the value of the degree, but the value of the training facilities, coaching etc. preparing them for a pro career. I think if a player chooses to sit out and not finish the season they should forfeit the remainder of their scholarship and pay back the benefits they've already received for that school year, and no more working out for free at the university's facilities.

Why? What are they costing their university by sitting out?

They entered into a financial agreement with the university. They are willfully breaking the agreement by choosing to not finish the season. In other words, they didn't finish the job. That would be a great life lesson for them to finish off college.

And the university benefited from it. If anything, the player sitting out helps the team in the future.

Love the way LSU fans get hammered all the time for bitching about their players, yet the folks doing the hammering are in here bitching about LSU players.

He doesn't have to prove shite

Tape don't lie. He's going top 10 barring any unforeseen injury

Making sure you're a top ten pick is fine with me

I know Aggy has no idea what that means to a player since they have no one relevant in the NFL outside of Von Miller

But if Fournette got injured in the Citrus bowl, he wouldn't have gotten drafted by the Jags

He's a top-10 pick regardless if he plays or not AND he's played through a myriad of injuries already this fall.

If he plays and gets injured he is no longer a top 10 pick if its a bad injury.
