I have no dog in this fight but college recruiting rankings for QB's are based on high school performance (which can depend on a lot of things including team, schemes, and opposition) and 7 on 7 camps where you throw and catch without any monsters in your face trying to knock your head off. When we signed Jaylen Hurts we had already signed a number of stud QB's that just could not get it done in an actual SEC game. I'll take the 5 star QB's but I take them with a grain of salt.

Never mind the fact that he has been heavily scouted since he could walk, or the fact that he's being coached by three, former NFL QBs (with two of them being HoF caliber).

No one is denying his potential ability, but how can you say a player is the consensus No.1 overall when he’s never had to compete against the best players. A friend’s family member threw for the same stats last year in 5A and he’s walking on to a AAC team. Manning looked lost in his last two playoff losses and that was 2A.

I would be the first to tell you people get too caught up in recruiting and rankings.

I completely agree. He’s going to be in a perfect situation having to only sit from the bench for a season and not be thrust into starting role day 1.

Lets see...

Top recruit picks tNCCin for college
Fails to justify rating austin
tNCCia fails to meet expectations for season (more expectations than VOLOL's)

I said the same thing from the beginning, that's why I didn't want him coming to Georgia, and cluttering the QB room. He could get better no doubt, but AS OF RIGHT NOW, he is not a 5*.

every major recruiting service has him as a 5 star and #1 prospect

If it’s as obvious as many on here are making it it be that he’s not #1 surely one of these services will slide him down

Yes they do, but in my opinion, and what i've seen, I don't think he's that good. If he played some high schools that could bring the heat, I think he'd fold.

I wonder if all this talk would be happening had he committed to Bama instead? Ever since committing to Texas people have gone out of their way to try to kneecap his value as a prospect.

Bama wins, austin has not been a W center in awhile. Winning covers some flaws.

If it wasn't for NIL I think Texas could have another Chris Simms situation with this kid if he doesn't improve a lot soon.

Wouldnt matter at Bama, a 2star qb with an accurate arm can win a nc at Bama.
