I just watched several videos on YouTube about him. He is extremely intelligent, adaptable and has a eerily Saban like presence on the field.

I could see him at Alabama in a few years when Saban retires. It's perfect timing. Sucks for the rest of us though and hopefully Alabama isn't that smart.

We all watched him coach in this league for almost a decade. We're familiar.

He's a great football coach.

Agree, he’s the real deal.

Some big name program will snag him and own college football.

I would love Dave Aranda at LSU as Head Coach. I don't think he is a good intellectual fit for our fan base and administration. I don't think he will thrive with the engagement factor the LSU head coach must have with fans-like the weekly radio shows and fan events. A huge silent portion will love him, but those aren't the people you hear from. This works the same with Alabama as well.

This is a coach who gives his players a copy of The Velveteen Rabbit... he is much better off at Baylor or any number of private or more better situated public powerhouses.

I bleed purple and gold. I also don't look at those colors with rose colored glasses either.

Sabans don't come around back to back. You get one of those every few decades. Have some respect.

If he's winning games and championships no one will care about all this fluffy stuff.

I’m glad LSU didn’t hire him. Would really have been a splash hire.

I suppose you are correct. Nick Saban can barely disguise his contempt for the fans as it is. I mean honestly...he's a football guy through and through, but also he chooses to live surrounded by Mercedes, Old World luxury, Italian loafers with no socks, and a pleasure of sophistication. Winning is the marker though- and nobody does it better.

I was hoping for Aranda. He is very intelligent and his defenses got better as the season went along. I do think he has potential to be the next Saban. Time will tell.

Yet LSU just hired Brian Kelly. And before LSU’s former AD shite the bed and hired Orgeron, LSU hired Nick Saban.

This is probably the dumbest post so far in 2022. Well done.

Nick Saban is probably the best recruiter in the country. Dave"s got a long way to go to even come close to Saban.

Nick is the greatest recruiter in the history of CFB and it's not close. But he was like 50 when he came to LSU. Dave is mid-40s. Time will tell.

But FTR, Dave is way ahead of Nick in today's game of X & Os.

I agree that Aranda has a ways to go, but let's not go overboard here.

Saban isn't a slick-talking smoothie, nor is he particularly inspiring. His recruiting pitch is that he knows football, and he knows how to win, and if you come here he will make you a winner.

Aranda has a different presence, but makes the same impression on players.

Both guys view football as chess, and they approach the game as chess masters. You will never see Aranda outcoached. He might get out-athlete'd, and you might see a short term challenge... which he will process and learn to defeat. Same as Saban.

You contrast that to someone like Harbaugh... as someone said, at halftime last night he looked like he'd seen a ghost. Totally fricked by Georgia, no clue how to stop the bleeding. He sold power football, and had come to the realization that would never work against a team like he was facing.
