Looked at portal numbers and expected to see LSU was enhancing roster. Was surprised to see the fighting Kiffin's at #23 considering Kiffin has hit the portal hard in the past.
No these numbers are not the end all be all but they absolutely do mean something at this point in the process.

Honestly, with a few exceptions, most of the portal guys were not key contributors or had future starting potential. Better for them to leave and seek a possible payday and chance at starting elsewhere. As Mama put it, "Would you rather be the smartest person at LSU or the dumbest at Harvard?"...same, same for most of these athletes...would you rather ride the pine or play elsewhere.

According to the link in the OP, the average rating of players transferring out of LSU is 72.07 and the average rating of playing transferring in is 77.15, so I would say your statement is correct.

LSU fans loved it when Alabama’s roster was gutted by the portal after Saban retired. They laughed so much about 31 players transferring out. They are on pace to break that number.

The “portal king” has the 23rd ranked transfer class according to On3. They have the #11 high school recruiting class according to On3. When is the last time LSU finished outside the top 10 in recruiting?

Every kid thinks they should automatically be a starter. Nobody wants to compete for a spot anymore. Every single team is getting torn apart by the portal, there has been what 4,000 entrants?
Wait for the last 4 teams seasons to end, they will have a mass exodus of backups and some starters also
