LSU has barely better odds to win the SEC than Bama. LSU +550 and Bama +650. Both UGA and Tx are less than +300. LSU is substantially overrated

I’m not going to lie. It’s fricking pointless and stupid to even try and rank teams 2 games into the season and 90% of those games have been cupcake games. There isn’t a team out there that you can confidently say you know how their season is going to play out. Look at Texas as an example. All the hype in the world coming in but if Arch doesn’t get better, they won’t be ranked at the end of the season.

You must not be a math/stats guy, or college football guy. The greatest predictor of the future is the past, even if there are huge anomalies (see FSU 2024, Ed O 2019, or AU 2010)

Probably should be, I agree. There are some schools where the press salivates at the opportunity to rank. Miss State is not one of those teams. We might crack #25 if we are undefeated heading into the game against TN, but that'd really just be to give TN a win over a "top 25 team."

lol…I don’t even care where Bama is ranked, let alone LSU. It’s week 2!
I just thought it was funny that all these writers saw Clemson and LSU play this weekend with all the historical context and thought…yep, LSU is better than UGA, Tex, Oregon, etc. I then went to check Vegas to make sure I wasn’t missing something and sure enough, the writers are stupid (the Illinois pick was probably the 2nd worst error after LSU).

You beat a top 12 team and are undefeated. It’s better wins than Auburn, and they’re ranked. Apples to apples, you’re better. I look for state to have a good year. I bet starkvegas was fun last night

I could say the same about you. NIL and the transfer portal change teams so much year to year that last year doesn't mean shite anymore.

It’s certainly increased the standard deviations but you don’t think the performance last year or even the last 2-3 years is going to tell you which teams are likely to be better than others?

Not anymore... 2 or 3 years ago I would have said Bama is better than FSU. There's too much turnover now.

FSU was a unique anomaly. Sure, there’s odd single game outcomes all season. But in terms of full season performance, there’s still a ton of consistency with regular season W/L records being within 2-3 games of each other.
Oregon, PSU, OSU, have all been pretty consistent in Big Ten. Bad teams NW, Rutgers, etc have been consistent along with middle teams like Iowa or even USC.
UGA, Texas now that their up and running, even Bama if they win 8-10 this year, BK’s LSU, Kiffin’s Ole Miss…even the bad teams have been pretty consistent…Arky, AU
ACC - same except FSU. Clemson, Miami, Ga Tech all been pretty consistent. BC, Wake, etc. consistently bad
Big 12 - this is probably the one with the most variance, but still have ones that have been upper tier like Iowa St vs. bad ones like UCF, Houston, and Cincy.
Think you are letting some outliers skew your perception about how much movement is generally possible each year. There are always a couple surprises in every conference each year, but by definition that means 10-14 teams were about as expected.
