1974 Oklahoma 1993 Auburn did the same thing but they weren’t voted #1

1957 Auburn

Their only title until 2010, and were banned from the post season.

LSU actually has 5 NCAA national championships. They count 1908. LSU doesn’t claim that one

If Alabama claimed every title someone selected the team for, they’d have over 35.

Sorry for bursting your rant.

Auburn has 12 undefeated seasons and 7 perfect seasons. 1900, 1904, 1913, 1957, 1993, 2004, 2010 were all perfect seasons.

Just wait until John Cohen finds out Auburn went 4-0 in 1900 and 5-0 in 1904.

And you guys just made the new t-shirts.

The 1974 Sooners was the era of the Salmon brothers and Joe Washington.
SEC tv did a documentary on the wishbone that is pretty good. It mention s the reason OU was on probation. In 1972 when Chuch Fairbanks was head coach, the University self reported a violation. It involved a players altered transcript. For that infraction, the NCAA felt it was appropriate to ban OU from bowl games and tv for 2 years starting in 1973.

What SI called the "Oklahoma Controversy Who's #1" in the polls, and how that happened was somehow skipped over by the documentary. Darrell Royal was the president? of the AFCA at the time. He proposed a rule that coaches could not vote for a team on probation in the UPI. It passed. Thus OU 's 1974 Title (only non-consensus of the 7) was a split with Southern Cal. USC lost a game and tied one that year, OU was undefeated but couldn't play in a bowl game.

The 1974 Sooners were the greatest team that the country never saw. This was the era of the Selmon brothers and Joe Washington. Sooners led the nation in points per game.
