Is that why he was at Bama for 13 years?

Strength and conditioning is not an on the field position coach role.

Sources report has he was caught in a hotel in Buckhead, with J.T. Daniels. With $19.80 of quarters and dimes lodged in his dookie dungeon.

I can hear the excuses flying now when Clemson beats UGa. It's because SC was gone.

Well, at least Muschamp knows Clemson pretty well. We've been scraping him off out boot for the last several years.

Match lit...

Your criticism is justified for this specifically. I think Scott’s best work was 2007-2012. He essentially remade a lot of those Shula era guys who contributed in 2008 and 2009. He established a good culture for the program since he really spends the most time with the players during the off-season. His S&C approach that roughly boils down to building as much mass on a frame as possible fit well with the on-field strategy to physically whip teams in the trenches.

Every year since that 2012 season was a slow degradation on his returns. Not enough focus on endurance and maintaining explosiveness in a game and season. Too many ligament injuries - often without contact - sometimes due to players growing past what their body can handle. Even worse, players getting injured during off-season conditioning.

There is a reason why he left S&C even though someone would’ve hired him just by reputation. He knows his approach is defunct and it is easier for him to move on the field than learn all this sports science stuff. S&C is getting rationalized and it is becoming a field for PhD and MD holders.

Specialists are not usually where you can see the value of an STC. Kick/punt coverage and returns are the differentiator. I thought they were well prepped to manufacture returns in the Alabama game. Couldn’t tell you about his body of work though.
