Say what you want, but aTm will never be king in Texas. You will be little brother forever. The only thing you have going for you is that you can entice recruits to come play in the SEC. However, that still won't be enough to surpass the allure of Texas. UT is the THE university that most people will always want to go to or play for in Texas. Your own QB wishes he was a Longhorn and can't wait to get out of the dump that is College Station.
Better campus, better academics, better facilities, greater tradition, and Austin. Deal with it.
ETA - Yeah, LSU and aTm will become huge rivals for many of the reasons mentioned already. Recruiting, lot of LSU fans in Houston and Texas in general, proximity, etc.

There will always be a few years where the tide seems to turn but it never does.
UCLA won the south and had a better recruiting class than USC. In fact in the 90s, they were better than USC for quite a few years. But does anyone really consider them to be the marquee football program in LA? No. That has always been USC.

Texas needs to get a new coach...It may be THE University in some respects but it isn't a major player in football at this time.

UCLA had two really good years at the tail end of the 90s, won head to head matchups 8-2, and have an outright conference title. But they also had 4 seasons with a losing record vs just 1 for USC. Losing seasons will really take a bite out of a notoriously fickle SoCal fanbase.
USC
1990: 8-4-1
1991: 3-8-0
1992: 6-5-1
1993: 8-5-0 (Pac-10 co champs)

UCLA

Yes because UCLA is selling the best conference of the Big 5 while USC is selling the worst.
Oh no, wait. That isn't reality at all. Closer to what you want is Clemson/USC or FSU/UF.

UCLA is a basketball first school and is not as committed to athletics as they could be, but let's assume they are both equally committed to football.
The comparison between USC/UCLA and A&M/t.u. is totally misplaced. USC/UCLA are both in the same conference with the same exposure as before and the status quo still intact.
We left you in a conference that you will never escape, with all the worthless leeches who will literally resort to armed conflict if you ever try to leave. You are stuck with a shitty, boring, irrelevant schedule with pitiful regional coverage. Whereas, A&M is on national TV damn near every week, playing against programs with the most passionate fan bases in the nation. You are marginalize. The only thing that can happen is for A&M to be THE program in Texas going forward.
HTH

Maybe until Texas joins the SEC in 3 or 4 years. It's coming...
No, that will never happen.
If that thought raises it's head, A&M will be the first to push for Clemson and Florida State. I'm sure USCe and Florida would be on our side.
We have escaped and will never allow those people (tu) into any conference in which we are a member.

We'll be rivals but not last game of the season rivals.
Give it 5 years...some Cracker Jack Texas politician will get a law passed that require the two to play on thanksgiving weekend, and we'll get our rightful game with Arkansas back.
You're a fool to think Texas & A&M will never play eachother again.

You are an idiot. You have absolutely no clue about the politics, dynamics, and systemic change that occurred with our move.
First of all, this move was 20 years in the making. We should have left with Arkansas. Second, we tried to leave when the SWC folded, but were strong armed by politics, namely Bob Bullock, to be in the XII. We were the last and twelfth school to sign on to the XII in '94.
Third, we spent ten years in the wilderness after Bonfire fell. Our Administration suddenly had much more important things to worry about than football. Then we goofed by hiring Fran, adding to our time in the desert. Bill Byrne and Bob Gates were the only people that kept us alive athletically. Then we hired the wrong President, Murano.
Suddenly, the stars aligned politically. Loftin was President and tu was increasingly becoming a bad business partner for the league. Nebraska and A&M sensed it and knew they controlled ther own destiny. Missouri did as well. Our nuclear option was always the SEC, and tu knew it. They feared it, and did their best to circumvent it by trying to put us in a package deal to the PAC.
Loftin wasn't playing. We had an Aggie Governor, a strong President, and a visionary BoR. All we had to do was wait one year until the Leguslature wasn't in Session. And we did.
The rest is history.
If you don't recognize what all went into this move, and the dynamics behind it, then you don't know shite. I assure you, the worm has turned.

first, LSU's rightful rivalry game is vs Tulane.
second, I wouldn't be shocked if A&M and Texas never again have a yearly series.
I think it's more likely we end up playing Tech yearly in Dallas to replace the Arky game at Jerry World when that contract runs out.

You might want to check with State Representative Dan Branch, who represents the "rich guys" in Downtown Dallas.
When Baylol and their attorneys were threatening to stop A&M's move the the SEC, Rep Branch, calls to bring the House back into session to discuss stopping the move.
People attacked Branch like he was raw meat in a lion's den.
He read the handwriting on the wall dropped the whole idea.
So much for "hot shot politicians".
Those politicians that want to stay around know to dodge this issue.

First of all, I'm not just a "fan", I wear the ring. So you can go frick yourself.
Second, you have absolutely no idea what our school went through after Bonfire fell and killed twelve people in 1999. It was devistating.
If that makes us "weird" then you are just an a-hole.

Funny thing about that.
In 1992 A&M was 6th in LSU's top ten teams played, while Arkansas was #9.
Today Arkansas is #6 in LSU's top ten, while A&M is #9.
I gotta say I'm loving the whole LSU/Arky/A&M freak fest we have going on.

I pray to sweet baby Jesus that we never ever do another long term series at a neutral site after the deal with Arkansas expires.
