Lol is that really your list as well?
I think I had Leach at Arkansas, Clark at Ole Miss and Jimbo at A&M with Gruden to VOLS and Chip Kelly to Florida. I don't think Kiffin is coming back to this league as much as I want him to.

Dude's 55 yrs old, never been a college HC, spent a total of 3 yrs at the college level as a GA/Passing Coach/TE coach and that was 30 yrs ago.
Jon's never sat in momma's living room trying to recruit 5* talent, hasn't controlled a locker room of 100 testosterone fill 18-20 yr olds, hasn't had to kiss Booster's arse and glad hand big $$ supporters......Hasn't hired a coaching staff, devised a game plan, implemented schemes in more than a decade nor has he been responsible for developing a constantly changing roster while juggling all of the above mentioned responsibilities.
GREAT points

no, "he is awesome....but he kicks too many field goals inside the 22 so his stats are inflated." That was the exact thread I was referring to.
I'd love a link to the rest

I think for Gruden to have any success anywhere he would need the same level of control UA has given to Saban.

You don't think that a guy who has had the highest level of success (Superbowl) on the toughest stage in his profession (NFL) couldn't move down to an easier platform and continue having success?
That word "continue" is problematic. Saying "continue" would suggest that he was having success up to the point that he left the NFL. In the 6 years following his Superbowl win, Gruden went 45-51 with 0 playoff victories.

Again Gruden would be great for the league.

I completely understand that there is no guarantee that Gruden will be successful if he takes a collegiate job. HOWEVER, there are many out there who are quick to point out all the reasons he won't have success.
I think it is reasonable to assume that he will be successful given the resources he would have access to at a place like UT. Saying he wouldnt be able to find success because "he can't cruit" is very silly.

Your reading comprehension sucks dick. He’s an awesome kicker, regardless of whether or not his stats are inflated. The posts about distance were about Auburn’s redzone offense and had nothing to do with Carlson’s ability. I stated that more than once in the thread.

I agree with that. On the list of hypothetical barriers to Gruden's success, I would put recruiting at or near the bottom. Simply being Jon Gruden should make recruiting fairly simple.

I hope they get Gruden. Joke will be on them. He hasnt coached in 15 years, knows nothing about college football.. will be able to recruit by his name alone but never actually done it 365 days a year. so people who think he walks in and makes them national contenders are simply dumb.

Gruden would be great for the commentary alone. But as a coach he'll do nothing to improve the Vols. Although, he will be better than Lyle but everyone is better than Lyle. Even Nussmeier is better than Lyle.

It would be interesting to see what would happen. It would sure cause a lot of excitement for the Vol fans.
He would have to be willing to put in some long hours after having it easy for many years. The only reason he would take the job is for the challenge. Who knows?
