If you’re referring to THE fumble, that was Clint Stoerner.

Not certain Matt didn’t have one but...

How do you not remember his fumble against Texas in Fayetteville in 2004??

I meant I wasn’t sure he didn’t have one against Tennessee at some point.

But truthfully I don’t specifically remember the one vs Texas either which is surprising because I am old enough that I still hate Texas with a passion. Maybe I’ve blocked it out.

Absolutely remember Matt Jones in college and in the NFL.

He had the right stuff for the pros, he was one of the only bright spots on those mid-2000 Jacksonville offenses.

Pepperidge farm remembers.

Na, anyone old enough to remember our current RB coach playing for us remembers Matt Jones. No way they don't.

I always liked Jones but hated playing against him. Anyone Cam Newton's size that can run a 4.37 40 is a phenomenal athlete.

I just never understood why he warranted a 1st round selection as a WR, a position he had never played full time in his career...

Auburn members all too well. He seemed to torch us every year. Was such a thorn in our side.

So slow? Are we remembering the same person? 6'6 242 running a 4.37 40 sure isn't slow. These are NFL Combine numbers

It was a little strange but he did fairly well for himself before all of his issues came up. Not 1st round worthy but solid production.

You mean wasted draft pick for the Jaguars, Matt Jones? Yeah, I remember him. How's his coke habit these days?

Re-read what I posted and what you quoted then see if your response still makes sense.

Eh, he isn't wrong in regards to how it looked at times. The way he runs doesn't really look as fast as he is truly going.

As long as that game was, I really felt bad that anyone was awarded an L.

One of the few times when I could feel for a losing opponent.

How was the 12 hours you spent in the rain?

I played basketball with him several years ago. Everything he did was just effortless and smooth.

Funny story, I used to work with his best friend from HS at a local golf course. Matt and his buddies would come play at least once a week. I ran the beer cart for the weekly scrambles. Once I made the rounds for that I would head over to Matt's group and give them some cold beer.

He was always a genuinely nice guy, just had some unfortunate events that ended his NFL career. I still believe he should have gotten another chance.

That was what he meant. Jones was incredibly fast, but he always looked like he was taking a leisurely jog. You'd see him out there puttering along and realize there aren't any defenders in the picture because they are 20 yards behind him and losing ground on every stride.

I have said some uncomplimentary things about Gus Malzahn but I honestly think Matt Jones would have won the Heisman with Gus coaching him. We had enough weapons on offense around him that Arkansas would have been a nightmare to defend.

Arky had some entertaining teams back in the day and Matt Jones was a beast. Also, loved myself George Wilson. Got to meet him for the Lions before making a nice career for the Bills.

If he had played the position before with his measurables, he absolutely would have been worth a 1st round selection. But using a 1st on someone who had never really played the position except for some novelty snaps?

As someone else said on page 1, he would have been ELITE at TE with his size and speed
