I don't think any team is going to hold this Bama team under 30. I really don't. LSU has a better chance of slowing them down than anyone we'll play in the regular season. But, I think LSU is going to have do some scoring if they want to be in it.

quote:Excellent post. I don't remember Alabama being able to use the slant like they have this year. By hitting them in stride, the receivers' speed has produced a number of long TDs, plus it's kept the secondaries back and on their heels.
LSU disrupting routes will be crucial. One thing that hasn’t been discussed a lot is that Tua has been absolutely brilliant in hitting receivers in stride on slants where the receivers can rip off huge gains after the catch. None of Alabama’s receivers are the particularly big “go up and get it” type so being able to limit their yards after the reception is gonna be as important as defending the deep ball in this game in my opinion.

quote:no, he was just staggering a little, his head hit the turf pretty hard on the last play he played, td pass to ruggs. Saban too him out then because he was going to put hurts in pretty soon anyway
Looked like he re-aggravated it in the Tenn game. Think it was on his last play, took a hit and limped off.

You do realize the numbers you are quoting came mostly against the two's and three's right?

Question: do you think that the starters not playing in the 4th is more beneficial or hurtful? in other words, if the starters have to play 4 quarters for the first time this season (more or less), will they be more gassed? or fresh?

The question is really which defense will score the most. Both QBs have protected the ball well, but I really expect both to have INTs this game. Which one will have the most??

Beneficial. With the depth issue at LB and all the young talent in the secondary, we needed to get guys in the game to help us build depth and continuity in case someone goes down or we get worn down on D and have to rotate players in and out of the game. It also helps us stay fresh for the bigger games, like this one.

I don't think it really matters much in terms of being gassed, I think it could be a factor if the game is tight in the 4th quarter just from a pressure standpoint.

This game won't be a 7 on 7. LSU's secondary, particularly your safeties, are going to have to play both run and pass
Delpit is a tackling machine

UF was one dimensional and still ran on you
They dominated us on both LOS's. We fixed a few things after that.

LSU fans have no idea how good this offense truly is. The Tigahs are in for a long night.
Most watch football & realize Bama has a good Offense.
Our D is also the best Bama will see all season.
Let's hope the good guys can actually finish a game in TS.

You’re right maybe I should move that to 40 points. LSU could have easily scored 50 on Georgia if they didn’t get conservative and settle for so FGs late in that game. Same with the State game. Kicking FGs won’t beat this tide team. I mean one or two will help but if you’re kicking 4 or 5 FGs, that means you’re leaving way too many points on the field.

And LSU was out a few key personnel.
That is why the UGA game went much different.

What's going to happen when it's Tua playing QB and LSU isn't playing a one dimensional offense? That was the point.
I would imagine our NFL caliber DB's do their job more times than not...

And you guys do based on the Defenses you have played?
I mean, i just re watched Tua's Highlights and about 80% of the TD passes are un-contested.
I have a hard time with LSU's DB's playing at the level of Mizzou and all the other D's you guys have faced.

Alabama's WR speed is a concern for LSU's DBs. LSU's are certainly athletic and capable, but Alabama has guys that have the ability to get open.
Pretty good matchup.
Best WR Group vs the best secondary. I hate that I have to wait 9 days to watch it

That goes both ways. What great passing offense has LSU's DBs played against?

If Aranda tries to stop the run with 5 and cover with 6 as he’s prone to do, Bama will gash us in the run game. If we play man and committ to stop the run, that’ll put Battle one on one. He’ll give up at least a couple of long plays.
I’d rather see us take a chance with the run game since we’ll have to pick our poison. Cover with 6 and make them patiently run the ball.

My thoughts exactly. Our D-Line has to play spectacular to make it a competitive game.

Um no, Ole Miss has 3 potential 1st rounders... Bamas guys are good no doubt, but they havent been tested. They havent played anyone yet besides TAMU, thats about it.. Tua may be the most talented QB ive seen in years... But he's still human.. You have to do two things... Cover their guys, and hit him in the mouth... The blitzing guys cant miss... this is what worries me the most... he has the ability to make the first guy miss and extend the play with his feet... its what makes the loss of White so critical... White hardly misses guys and is a sure tackler... I believe (like most years) these are the two most talented teams in the country, I believe this game is always better than the national title game. Its a war from start to finish.. I expect this one to be no different... If Bama comes out and whips LSU's talented defense with Aranda running it, then they have earned the title of greatest offense ever...
