Not so fast, Sister-Kisser. There are myriad pathways that would result in a Bama vs. UGA rematch.

UGA and Bama just played a game that could have equally been played by Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
Bama and UGA would both be favored by 3 scores minimum against both those teams… stop.
We get it… you want Texas #1.
It’s a long season, it means next to nothing right now.
But Bama has a better resume than Texas YTD.

Enjoy that bet when thorny urps up 3 pick 6’s in the first quarter..and cheater preacher dials up his 170lb running back near the goal line.
Then runs out mcgoo for a 60 yard try to beat the spread with no time outs and 5 seconds on a running clock.

Dawgs are good but the days of playing only bad teams on the road are over. Welcome to a pressure cooker schedule.
Ironically the same fans who say Georgia only won championships by playing no one on the road will say Bama 2020 best team of all time when they played against empty stadiums on the road lmao

Panic doesn't happen in the 12-team playoff era until the second loss (unless you lose to a bad team).
I think Bama is pretty good. At this point I still expect UGA to be in the playoff and playing their best football when it counts the most.
If we lose to Auburn... then I'll definitely be in panic mode. If we lose to Texas, I'll worry, but even then panic won't set in.
The regular season doesn't matter as much as it used to. The first two losses don't really matter.

Well, what is panic referring to? The season? The program? Widespread?

Texas doesn’t know anything about that yet.
Texass fans think beating Michigan is the same as beating Georgia and can't understand why Bama jumped them in the polls.

Panic for UGA would be "shite, we won't make the playoff".
Last year that happened with just 1 loss.
In 2021 the first loss didn't matter (due to the fact Oklahoma State had already lost by the time UGA and Bama played in the SECCG).
This year the first two losses for UGA (given our schedule) don't really matter. The third will knock us out of national championship contention.
I get what you're saying though, panic really isn't the right word. I'm translating that as "realizing your goals for the season cannot be reached". For UGA the main goal is to win a national title. That's still on the table.

I never panic about our team because I am objective enough to evaluate our level of talent at every position.
Kirby has already stated publicly that we don't have depth of talent that we once did aka this team is not as talented as our NC teams.
We won those championships with a walk-on dual-threat QB, Stetson Bennett. Beck is a stronger arm that Bennett but he is not a dual-threat QB by any stretch of the imagination.
Our receivers aren't as talented.
Our RB's aren't as talented.
Our OL isn't as talented.
Our DL isn't as talented.
Our LBs aren't as talented.
We have a lot of talent at DB but they are young/not seasoned.
So no, I don't since our team this season as a championship level team. We might get into the playoffs but I think we will have 1 or 2 more losses before the season is over.

The ones hitting the panic button should be Bama fans. We came back from down 4 touchdowns and almost won. You team is soft.

Which would make a team that lost to them even softer. Go bark somewhere else.

UGA will win by 40. That game hasn't been competitive since 2005 back when the series was tied.
Richt and Kirby have both owned AU. Auburn had more success against Saban's dynasty than they did UGA.

Pretty level headed assessment. Not much room for error from here on out. The slow start is what would concern me .

I think you have more talent than you give yourself credit for. Talented teams make comebacks like you did in the second half. Execution is everything tho.

Game was close just last year, and that was with a healthy Brock.

You sound like you're panicking. Imagine giving up a 4 TD lead at home.

Yes, but UGA has won 2 national titles. I still think they’d have 2 national titles if they played a West schedule in 2021 or 2022. But the lack of road tests from great teams was apparent last week. Beck looked lost. The team looked lost.
UGA has looked lost in the first half against good to great teams since at least 2017 at least a couple of times a year. On the road and at neutral sites. For whatever reason it’s been a thing at UGA for several years. It’s happened 75% of the games they have played this season and the one game it didn’t happen against was a rent a win. Schedule this year will wind up with 3-4 losses if they don’t find a way to game plan Sunday - Saturday at least as good as they do in the first 30 minutes of games and halftime. It’s an issue.

I am a UGA fan and not panicked because it’s college football, why would anyone be panicked about college football? That said, the slow starts, which have been ongoing since at least 2017 against good to great teams, at least a couple of times a year, is an issue. UGAs staff is as good as there is on gameday but at least a couple of games a year they fail to prep, motivate, game plan, whatever it is, and come out flatter than the beer at a GOP fundraiser until the third quarter starts. It’s a glaring weakness. Anyone denying it is being obtuse or blind.
