This is actually illegal to not allow you to have satellites, went through this once. Do not have all the info but look it up easy to find the rulings online. Btw they will tell you you cannot that is when you pull out the court rulings.

It is what it is. Cord cutting was a threat so they took care of it. We have to deal with the realities of that corrupted system.

If the Supreme Court comes down against Aereo then the current system becomes legally entrenched in a way that will be almost impossible to defeat.

Very likely what's going on is that Comcast and DirecTV are trying to cut a "bridge" deal just to carry them to their next contract renewal negotiations next year. Disney is a formidable force and will be difficult to extract a concession from so, it's anybody's guess what happens this year. So far, the choices are Dish, AT&T Uverse & Google Fiber. Dish was conveniently positioned for the deal having been in contract negotiations with the Disney properties for over a year coming to agreement a month or so ago.

You're stupid. The SECN will need direct TV, time warner and comcast to get off the ground. Those TV companies can hold out and still make their money the SECN cannot

I think Microsoft, Sony, and roku should all consider picking up the network. Charge the customer a flat rate once a year for it that way people who can't get it from their tv provider have some options.

Most of the he streaming services will have access to SEC Network programming - BUT - only thru the WatchESPN app & from authenticated providers. Bottom line, if your TV provider carries the SEC Network you will have access streaming as well but if not, you're out of luck. Read the SEC Network FAQ, they cover most all the questions.

I'm not far behind you. I'm at least waiting until Aug 1 to make the switch. I'll be switching the office, home and Tuscaloosa accounts. It's not a big dent in the DTV empire - but if enough people like me start to leave perhaps they'll wake up.

Completely untrue. The SECN is backed by ESPN, it could go years without making money (look at the LHN).

It will probably be break even year one with just the current deals alone. These companies need the SECN or their twitter feeds will stay in a constant state of violation come football season.

SEC fans might be a minority, but we are a loud minority.

I'm surprised at the feet-dragging. There is a large contingent of 20-30something males who only subscribe to cable at all due to sports programming.

That is the only reason I keep cable these days, with Hulu, Netflix and AP.

Pretty much accurate but it's bigger than that. Keep in mind, Disney is the parent company which owns all of their like-named properties along with ABC, ESPN (SEC Network included) and, all steaming content from each of them. Contracts for the SEC are and will continue to be "bundled" with other Disney owned content. I seriously doubt any of the TV providers, regardless of relevance, could successfully bring any meaningful pressure to the table to coerce Disney. Charlie Ergan (Dish CEO) is as slick & tough as it gets and his negotiations went on a full year before things were nailed down. The SEC Network will be a huge success and everyone who matters knows it.
