Can't say as to Cox, but I can tell you that I like U-Verse much much better than Time Warner.
I don't know how about other providers, but Cox are a bunch of bitches. Just randomly hiked up bill because they can. Had to call and spend 2 hours on the phone to get back to my original price.

I rarely watch games at my house, so I'm in a wait and see mode.

Does anyone know if U-Verse service is better than Cox? I'm thinking about making the switch solely because of the SEC Network.
It's a: you get what you pay for situation. U-Verse is 2-wire phone line DSL from AT&T. Cox is cable TV/internet with much more bandwidth. The typical U-Verse service, Elite, is about 6 Mbps download while Cox is about 32 Mbps. Yes, that's right, Cox internet is over 5 times faster.

DirecTV is going to end up losing a shite load of customers if they don't pick up the SECN. I bet close to 75% of people in the SEC footprint that have DirexTV will switch to dish solely for it. Myself included.

Yeah I didn't word that well at all, it's been a long morning at work and I'm doing this from my phone so give me a break. What I meant was at least 75% of college football fans in SEC footprint will switch solely for the network.
I do think that is a pretty large chunk of their profits in the South though. I think it could be as high as 10%-12% of their total customer base.

Charter better fricking get their shite together.
I don't have any option other than Charter right now, but if they don't get the SEC Network I will cancel my service on principle alone.

That is what is so great about this Dish deal. Unless you live in a place without sky access or a place to mount the dish you have an option.

I can't have satellite at my apartment complex.
ETA: Can't mount the dish on their building and I don't have a patio. If I have to drop TV service I will definitely be moving. :)

I think Microsoft, Sony, and roku should all consider picking up the network. Charge the customer a flat rate once a year for it that way people who can't get it from their tv provider have some options.

I agree. I'd totally pay extra for that on XBox Live.

ESPN makes too much money from the cable companies to undercut their business model like that.
Right now access to live sports is the primary driver of both cable subscriptions and advertising (since you watch events live and don't DVR them). Because of that ESPN is the Mouse's biggest money maker.
The rate for the primary channel has gone through the roof (over $5 for EVERY cable subscriber and not just those who like football), and they expect to get a lot for the SECN (more than a $1 per subscriber in the SEC footprint).
Given how Net Neutrality is basically dead in America the idea of some À la carte future is a pipe dream. We will only get the SECN from the major cable or satellite providers for the next decade or so.
Dish was working out the only deal I have heard of to offer ESPN's channels without cable, but I have doubts it will be the solution cord cutters dream of.
The TV industry watched as new methods of digital distribution undid the machine that was the music industry and they want to avoid the same fate.

Im going to do that too, but will wait til July. I see no need to hurry. I hope Directv caves.

If Comcast does not have a deal with the SEC Network by August 1st I am not paying my bill. I am switching to someone who has the Network.
Get out of my head. (Already called U-Verse to see how long it will take for them to get me hooked up)

We all believe there will be a ton of people switching because we hang out with like minded people.
I would be shocked if 10% of Directv's customers in the SEC footprint even cared.
