Not to mention June Jones was doing this at Hawaii, not Alabama, LSU, or Florida.

The level of athletes is just so much better at the schools running it. As soon as the old school, meat head coach was relaxed we started seeing offenses utilizing their advantages.

I imagine allowing offensive linemen to be three yards downfield on a pass play has something to do with it also. In the NFL it's only one yard

So many that even LSU got one

The 3-yard rule is a huge advantage in running the RPO.

If there is any rule change affecting the Spread/RPO's it will be this one.

Miss State did a beautiful job spreading out the interceptions.

It's more about the fear defenders have of playing aggressively because the rules completely benefit the offense more than anything else.

We should've hired you, you'd have probably made Joe Brady look like a rube.

They don't have the Jimmy's and Joe's yet. Leach will get it squared away in a year or so.

He pushed through the 10,000 jugs catches. Smart guy.

Maybe it was COVID, but there is no way Linehan got that done this Summer. Same WR's, but dropping balls like hot potatoes.

College defenses aren't worse, they just have 3 times as much area to cover.

No. The field is the same size it's been for 100 years.

1. QB as athletes that are as good at running as they are at passing. You used to choose between a passer or a runner, now they have morphed into what it takes to do both really well.

2. College rules allow OL 3 yards downfield instead of 1. Ages ago I was a player and then a coach. An axiomatic read by secondary players and occasionally LBs was uncovered OL and how he blocked. If his outside leg crossed over and he got to the second level, it was run all the way. Safeties would attack their run fits like an LB, mostly alley support. Corners playing zone schemes with outside leverage could do the same reads with edge support. LBs could attack their run fit reading the cap on the aligned OL.
The RPO game blows that apart. OL block the same way on run and pass, they don’t even know what it is because it’s a read. If Colkege went to the NFL rules on OL down field, the offense would be slowed considerably. As it is, LBs and safeties are the ones getting abused because their rules are often conflicting.

3. Matchups. OCs are designing their offenses to get matchups that are a mismatch. They have always done this to an extent, but these OCs are playing 4D chess a lot of the time. It’s almost unreal how fast they can spot and create a mismatch on the field.

No he won’t. Leach hates recruiting

Have you ever heard of nickel and dime defensive packages?

What would happen if you tripled the width of soccer goals, but added 3 more goalies?

The formations aren't the same. For a DB, 5-wide puts your assisting DB 5 or 10 yards further away than in traditional sets.
