Lol no it isn't. June Jones is old. Bill Walsh and his west coast offense implemented in the 70s says otherwise.

Difference is, throwing the ball around like that used to be way more risky than it is now. These kids are slinging it all over the field now in middle school so by the time they get to college, they're much more productive and comfortable in those types of offenses. In turn, that makes coaches much more willing to run that type of offense. It isn't anything new. They've just gotten better at it.

Count the 4 & 5-wide Spread plays in college ball this season.

Then count them for 2015, 2010, 2005, 2000, 1995.

Please don't act so stupid. You know I'm right.

Arkansas has done a nice job the last couple of weeks dealing with those offenses. 8 covering 5 in zones and come up fast to deal with any runs. Add a nice job of tackling and you get success on defense.

Holy shite dude. The concept of these offenses isn't anything new. It's just more teams are running it now.

No one said the concept is new, moron. It is the vast increase in frequency of their use that is new... dude

Then I guess you should have omitted the "yes" and just gone with the second part.

These QBs and WRs come into college much better prepared

I think this is actually a valid point.

As much as we fans like to armchair it, making consistently-elite reads and throws at the QB position is hard as shiiit.

Stand on the sideline and watch the athleticism and physicality up close, and it's mind-blowing.

There are many more capable, talented QBs available right now than there ever have been.

I made my point. it was clear to anyone who didn't intentionally 'misunderstand' it.

GFY, jerk.

Yep. And exactly like I've been trying to tell OP, that, in turn, makes coaches much more comfortable than they were 10 years ago in running these types of offenses. Having the guys who know where to be and the skill to execute puts the mind at ease when you call for your QB to throw it 45 times a game.

nope. football field is still the same size. still the same number of defenders. terrible analogy. the analogy would have to include 2 more goalies at the very least.

His analogy is ok, it’s just that rather than the field expanding, it’s OC’s and QB’s now utilizing the entire field as opposed to half or a third of it

True enough.

But if you put them in a traditional pro-style offense, they won't put up 45-plus points a game, and won't throw in the mid 70's completion percentage
