Saban has been in this situation enough to know how to handle the team. I'll be shocked if Alabama doesn't come out playing extremely well. Possibly as well as they've played all season.

Same here. I'm thinking they come out like they did against Michigan.

It looks and feels like the miami/alabama game in 92'. I think the underdog come in and shocks the world.

what i most remember from pre-game '92, is all of the trash talking from the miami players.

The thing is, this Alabama team isn't head and shoulders above the other top dogs in the SEC, and it could be argued its pretty even. But I think any of the good SEC teams this year could beat ND by double digits. Add in Saban's experience in this situation and I think it's as close to a guaranteed win as you'll see in a NC game.

Just seems to be a lack of focus with the players and fans already celebrating number 15.

What makes you think there is a lack of focus, other than the 2 players that were sent home ?

I just watched every player interview from media days, that I could fine. They are prepared and focused. It made me feel much better.

ETA: Also, ND is the team that has talked smack about exploiting our secondary. Our secondary has been asked all kinds of questions about the ND smack. I haven't heard one 'Bama player say one bad thing about ND.

Yep. To the point of doing it on Bourbon Street. Remember the story of their star WR(the one Teague ran down and took the ball from) running into some Dline from Bama and mouthing off to them, asking them, Who are you? You're nobody.. blah blah.

Aggies, Lsu and Ga are all close to Bama this year.

As do I, which is why I said I think they will be the 3rd or 4th best Bama faces this year. I expect a 31-14 or so type game. Maybe even a little bigger margin.

After a period of success, you start to fear failure more than you anticipate success. It is an example of waiting for the other shoe to drop or for karma and kismet to balance the scales.

For some reason, our culture believes in the concept of fairness and balance. The dumb kid must be a great athlete. The ugly girl has some hidden talent for cello. You can't win all the time.

Fortunately for the lucky and the hardworking, life isn't fair and winners continue to win.

That doesn't stop us from expecting the worst or looking for chinks in the armor.

Alabama will likely win. They can play their B game and beat Notre Dame. I'm not saying Notre Dame doesn't have a shot. They most certainly do, but the odds are heavily in Alabama's favor. Don't look for reasons Alabama can lose. Don't invent problems that aren't there. Just focus on why they are going to win.

ETA: 92 Alabama was MUCH better than 2012 Notre Dame. No one is saying the ND defense is one of the best of all time.

IF Golson gets flustered and Bama has 0-1 Turnovers. I could see Bama win by 14.

I think whoever wins this game will win by 7-10 points. I'm just not sold on Golson. He'll pass around 23 times and I could see him run around 15 times. He's no Johnny Football though.

Also, Golson hasn't faced a complex d scheme like ours before, either. He is still a first year starter. That could cause problems.

You would have thought Bama was an FCS team going into New Orleans in '92. No one gave them a chance. ND is getting plenty of respect, and they're mostly creating the "we're disrespected" nonsense. That Miami team and this Bama team have nothing in common; moreover, Dennis Erickson isn't the coach.

ND>BYU 17-14 BYU 8-5
ND>UM 13-6 UM 8-5
ND>PURDUE 20-17 PURDUE 6-7
ND>USC 22-13 USC 7-6
ND>BC 21-6 BC 2-10

In the Red Zone, ND is historically one of the best teams EVER. 75% of the time, teams that get into the red zone, doesn't score.
