He is as talented as Richardson and he went 4th. Someone will roll the dice on him.

Amen. Thank goodness it will be someone else. He'll wind up either selling Nissan cars or in the UFL.

If Anthony Richardson can go #3 overall, Milroe can too. Someone is going to take a gamble on him.

Not what I would do as a GM, but even the best GMs make stupid arse decisions at the QB position off of athleticism and potential (Trey Lance).

I just saw on PFF projecting Milroe to go #2 overall to the Browns. Just among Bama QBs over the years, I don't even think he's a better QB than Blake Sims much less being on the level of guys like Tua, Bryce, and Mac. His pocket presence is atrocious, his decision making is horrible, he's wildly inaccurate. Milroe is also not overly young (will be 22 in December). He has interesting physical tools but he's not a physical specimen like Josh Allen or Anthony Richardson was. Why is he projected to be drafted so high?

Well above my pay grade and I honestly would not draft him. I like my QB's in the style of Burrow, Mac Jones etc.

However, he has an extremely high ceiling and is athletic in a way you can't really teach/train. And the game is being dumbed down a lot. So that's probably what they see.

NFL GMs assume they can “coach these guys up” and teach them the game. They all look at a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson and think they can turn the next one of these guys into that.

Nobody looks at Jamarcus Russell, Bryce Young, Zach Wilson, or any of the 1000 other guys that didn’t work out. The reality is these guys can be great in the right system and if they put in the work, bust most of the time they’re in the wrong system and/or don’t put in the work.

I guess the Eagles are proving that even if you can’t fully develop them, you can win with a guy like Jalen Hurts if you have a great OL and excellent offensive scheme.

I think the NFL is just obsessed with athletic QBs right now, take the Colts, anyone with eyes knows they’re way better with Joe Flacco out there than Anthony Richardson, but as soon as he’s healthy Richardson is going back in so he can “develop”

The same reason Anthony Richardson was a first round pick. They’re hoping for a Lamar Jackon or Jalen Hurts type athlete that’s a run threat and can chunk it. Richardson has been terrible as a passer, though. I think Milroe will be similar to him. Hit some bombs but throw lots of INTs as well. No way id chance a 1st round pick for him

When has Milroe ever been INT prone? That argument makes no sense.

Lance was extremely productive in his one year as a starter though. 16 games without an interception is incredible.

There is no evidence whatsoever that this is true, fwiw. And he rarely throws short passes because he can't read the defense and relies entirely on busted coverage when we get into unscripted playcalling

Let’s take the competition level into account as well

Threw 2 last Saturday. 1 of which ended up giving USC 3 points before the half. The other in the end zone removing what should have ben a TD drive.

But I agree it's not his MO. Those were his 3rd and 4th of the season and I don't fault him for the pick six against Vandy since it was a tipped pass.

If he had any sort of internal clock he could be the #1 pick. There’s not a better player to have in the red zone in the country

It's actually crazy they have him rated in the first round at all.

Alabama is 80th in red zone offense and 75th in red zone scoring percentage with the season halfway over

Richardson had a bigger arm and was way bigger

Richardson is like 250lbs and can run

Milroe is athletic and strong but he’s not a guy that’s makes you say “wow” like Richardson. Problem is, Anthony Richardson looks alot better “in shorts” than he does with the pads on

Honestly, Milroe reminds me of a poor man's Vince Young. And Vince Young could have had an amazing career in the right role and right place (Offensive ROY, etc.) if not for the worst, most toxic and sabatoging coach to ever coach in the NFL.

A better question: how is Shadeur Sanders ranked above Milroe? Or ranked in the 1st round at all?
