Exactly right. You're the only team that can say you 'owned' Oregon in the last 3 1/2 years. Every other team has won by a single field goal. But the Oregon team you owned in 2011 is not the same team as 2013 Oregon. It's very different.

They are really the best team in the nation. They've never had this many great skill position players, and Mariota is the best quarterback they've ever had in their recent run. He's going to win the Heisman. I'd argue right now that they are the best team in the nation, and it's not close. However, they aren't going to get much better. Give an Alabama or an LSU 5 weeks of practice as sort of a "2nd spring" and it would end up being a very close game that could go either way. But as for now, I really don't understand how only five AP voters are giving them their #1 vote.

We constantly beat each other up in the SEC. Who does Oregon have to compete with? The likes of UCLA? Stanford? Stanford is the only competition they have... Don't give me Washington or UCLA. Please no.

For now they can be crowned, but your statement that it's not even close is hard to believe in. Until they prove otherwise against the SEC I just won't trust them too much.

Same thing every year, sure they are better, and sure they may be the best UO team we have seen in years, but to put it in perspective, where does that talent line up against LSU, or a Bama, or even A&M?

File this under "won't mean a thing in a year".

The new playoff system will better sift through who's good and who's overrated.

But Oregon does have a monster offense and one of the best QBs in the nation. Their strength of schedule hurts them as it does every year but once we go to the super-leagues (it's coming) you may see some solid competition each season. SEC just can't help that we have the best athletes in the country.

Yeah and with all of this you've won ZERO championships and even lost to Auburn in one.

Every year you guys have the same talking points:

"this year is different"
"we are way better"
"look at our offense"

Same stuff different year. Oh and spare me the "we beat Washington!" stuff. Yeah you beat them after they came off a rough emotional week. Everyone with a brain knew they didn't have the legs to sustain a full game. Stanford didn't and lost to Utah.

That win against Washington doesn't impress me. Also, look at your schedule. You play UCLA a week after Stanford. It is like they set things up where Stanford physically drains the teams you play the week before you get them. That way you can just run right by them. By the third quarter their legs are dead from the struggle the week before.

A&M is better than anyone LSU has faced so far this season.

A&M > Florida
A&M > UGA

Some of you guys need to slow down with the obsessions.

Oregon is much much faster in tempo than A&M.

I do think their running capability would be stymed by the Bama defense.

I would be concerned with their passing attack, though. If their o line can handle the d line, They could be dangerous.

I'm very very interested in how their improved defense would handle the Tide offense.

I wonder how many people in this thread have dismissed Oregon this year and also have not yet actually watched a game.

Chip Kelly was a legit coach (see NFL success compared to Saban, Spurrier).

The frick? As another poster pointed out, Kelly is 3-3 at this point in his NFL career. You know Saban actually went 9-7 his first year in Miami, right? Let's hold off on anointing him an NFL god.

You mean the same way Oregon fans are dismissive of other teams? How they're always the best ever till the lose a game?

Like that?

Everybody not named Oregon. Always a reason or an explanation for their defeat to LSU (we we're better now!) or Auburn (doesn't really count!).

Every year it is the same thing with your team. Until you guys prove otherwise, people (intelligent ones) will naturally doubt just exactly where your team actually lies. That win against a worn down Washington wasn't impressive. A worn down Stanford lost the same weekend.

I don't know if they have had this in the past, but it looks like they have a couple of 300 pound defensive tackles, which could help with the physicality problems they have had in the past.

Also according to the depth chart I found, their starting defense consists of 6 seniors, 4 juniors, and 1 sophomore. That's a extremely veteran lineup. This "improved" Oregon defense could very well be legit.

Personally, I think that Oregon would go toe to toe with any team in the country, including any team in the SEC.

The one thing I question is whether the rest of the PAC 12 style of play can really prepare them for the type of physicality that an Alabama, LSU, or even Florida (on defense at least) brings. Oregon easily has the talent and capability to beat anybody, but I still don't think they face the same kind of athletes on defense that exists at top SEC programs. A physical defense can still disrupt that offense they run.

Another point, Oregon guys you say Washington was a big win.

Tell me who has Washington beat this season?

Boise? They're average at best.
Illinois? They suck.
Idaho State? They suck.
Arizona? You mean the team USC was blowing out?

They haven't done anything this year. They have been mainly hyped up.

Well give me your 50 dollars, because I have seen Boise, Illi and Arizona (I need to see Idaho St? )and none of those teams are anything impressive.

Will you actually address the point of Washington not really being as good as they were hyped to be in the first place and how they and the team they played against prior to you guys both had down weeks or will you continue to avoid the truth that stares you directly in the eye?

Want more truth? That average Washington team is the only team with a winning record which Oregon has played so far this year.

So you want us to sit down and praise and worship you guys for beating a bunch of doormats... like we already don't know you specialize in that from years past.
