They just wanted a figure head for recruiting purposes. Likely never intended to allow him near the starting lineup.
Too bad Texas wasn't smart enough to do that. Oh wait... their final recruiting ranking was No. 3

Texas could afford to pay to waste a spot. Ole Miss couldn’t.

UGA was actually only looking to recruit a QB if they were what UGA viewed as "elite". Otherwise they were skipping a QB last class (which they ended up doing as they missed on their elite targets).

Manning, Iamaaleava, Dante Moore, Malachi Nelson, Christopher Vizzina, Eli Holstein, Dylan Lonegran. That was their entire list of offers and they didn't pursue any other than Manning all that hard (in part because they didn't have interest, in part because some were borderline in terms of being worth a scholarship based on UGA's lack of need).

UGA really wanted Manning. So did Bama. It wasn't because of his last name, he has talent.

So could Nick Saban's team and Kirby Smart's team and basically every other team that recruited Arch as well, I guess

What is a fact about Manning is that in his senior season he was only second string All State in La.'s lowest classification.

Why not let this play out….and give him a chance….I believe he’s entitled to at least that much.

He also broke his uncles' passing records at the same school.

But those guys ended up being total busts anyways, am I right?

1/10 try a little harder next time with your hacky insults. It won’t change the fact that arch will never start an SEC game and it certainly won’t change the fact that your girlfriend’s penis is bigger than yours.

Records against Double A defenses. Lowest classification defenses in the State. Not knocking the kid, just stating a fact vs all the personal, biased opinions.

Yet his uncles, and OBJ as well, seemed to fare just fine at the next level and beyond

But to be fair I guess it's an "opinion" and not a "fact" saying those three aforementioned players fared well after winning a combined 5 super bowls

The reality is both Nick Saban and Kirby Smart were trying to land Arch Manning.

I think enough of the ability of those two to evaluate talent that if both schools make an offer to that player, that player has talent.

I don't think either really gives a crap about his last name. We can question website rankings, but I don't question consensus between Smart and Saban on a recruit.

and the dozen or so other programs that offered him.
