I like playing Texas in all sports again. OU is a natural geographic opponent.
It’s great to be in conference with Arky again, and of course with aggy.
All of the Texas grads I know feel that it’s exciting to now be in the SEC, and considered it the top sports conference before entering.
For me living in NC now, it’s great that a lot more of my NC friends are now watching Texas games. We have a lot of grads and fans from Tennessee, SC, Vandy, Georgia, and other SEC schools living here and a lot of Texas road games are now played not far away.
Winning games against SEC schools means a lot. We were already Alabama rivals after losing a national championship to them, and I feel like we are developing a pretty good rivalry with Georgia.
I’m definitely ready to beat Georgia again. Despite the bluster, I know Georgia will take Texas seriously when Texas visits Athens in a huge nationally televised game this upcoming fall…

Still...don't like TX in it. Why? Just don't like them - so any monetary, prestige, and/or recruiting advantages gained by being in the SEC I don't want them to have. Period.

So SEC legacy fans what's your thoughts of Texas and OU in their first year of the conference?
As a conference, it was different. But it was such a year of transition for BAMA fans that they may not have noticed. Losing Coach Saban is a cultural shock. Moving all games to ABC/ESPN was must-watch TV from noon to midnight. Nothing but marquee matchups, and that can't be understated or ignored. The SEC was the greatest show on turf.
The basketball quality was the best in my lifetime. The number of talented teams invited to the big dance was proof of how much things have changed and how quickly it has happened.
Overall, the SEC is in a good place as far as the product is concerned. The shorthorns and Sooners are part of the reason, but the SEC was the best conference in the country before the invasion. Year 2 promises a lot more of the same.

1 year is obviously not a big sample size. I will say I remember everyone saying OU was only winning gymnastics and softball titles because they were in the Big 12 and they came into the SEC year one and won the conference in both sports.
You can throw OU football out the window last year. 2 years removed from Dillion Gabriel and a 10 win season then everything that could go wrong did. This year will be more telling.

Never understood why we never played OU more than we did. It seemed like OSU was on the schedule a lot in the 80s but never OU except for a rare bowl matchup. We tried to set up a series with UT but they kept putting off the last game. Glad to have the possibility of playing both again but knowing SEC scheduling it could be a long time n between games.

Both schools are fairly elite sports schools and well rounded. Solid additions to the conference. Hatred will come with time as rivalries develop with other schools. You can see it in baseball with LSU/Texas. 2 bluebloods. OU has made the league even stronger in softball and gymnastics. OU football needs to return to top shelf.

We swept Texas's in 2/3 of the big 3 sports. Should have beat them in football too. Don't think we played OU yet

I was surprised at how poorly OU transitioned to the SEC. I expect them to get better because they have an insane sports history but at the moment they transitioned at the wrong time. Texas is annoying and will never be a fit in the SEC to me. I never even liked A&M joining.
The thing I get most annoyed about is the constant trash talk between the Aggies and Texas. I don't care about that rivalry at all. The fans are annoying and its not a historic SEC game I grew up watching. Hell they didn't even play for 10 years. Wish those fanbases had their own forum to be obsessed with each other cause its just annoying

I've only recently started to accept Arkansas and South Carolina.
Arky feels less like a sec team to me today than the bcs days. The additions of Tex atm mizz and ou has really sucked arkys fanbase back in with the old gang.

I can’t believe there hasn’t been a cheap shot made at Missouri yet.
I’ll go 1st
I would have been happy swapping Oklahoma in and Missouri out.
Texas isn’t a cultural fit for the SEC

Adding them did a lot for OU and Texas and precisely jack shite for the member schools or their fans. It really, really sucks that they’ve been added.
Same for Aggie and Mizzou.

The Texas and OU fans I’ve met fit right in with SEC fanbases and culture. We all have the 10% easily hatable jackass fans, but the rank and file are pretty knowledgeable and relatable.
The SEC was the clear winner in the latest conference realignment.

I’ve disliked Texas and its fans since the 1980’s. Nothing has changed. If anything, I dislike them even more.
Texas simply doesn’t fit in the SEC.
Oklahoma isn’t bad. The fans are great. No problem with them but they don’t fit geographically.
I’d rather kick Texas to the curb and bring in Florida State or Clemson.

I like both teams coming to SEC they have provided top level competition. Can we send A&M back, we're having buyer's remorse?

Based on recent Big12 results, I figured Oklahoma would be challenging every one and Texas at the bottom. But, that's completely reversed.
Those handpicked, charmin-soft schedules Texas got in football and baseball will do that.

You just showed your age. It was a huge rivalry game every year and one I looked forward to . Same with the OU vs Nebraska game. It didn’t matter that they weren’t in the SEC, and my guess by your comments is that you weren’t even born yet. You like to distance yourself form the so called Vol alters but you aren’t any different. You talk a lot of shite with nothing to back it up. You start threads taking shots at other schools when I doubt that you have ever seen your school win a natty in the big 3 sports until last years baseball title. You said in a thread yesterday that LSU fans want to revert to baseball only as program success. I posted that LSU has won 3 national championships and played for a 4th in my lifetime. I’ve also seen all 7 of LSU’s baseball championships. I asked you how many VoL nattys you have seen and you went radio silent and refused to answer. So do the board a favor and kindly go frick off .

Yeah, you are right, I'm 10 years old! And no don't compare Nebraska vs OU to Texas and the Aggies. Nebraska and OU are all time programs with a classic names in those series both playing and coaching. Texas is a historic program and the Aggies are not. I grew up watching games like Egg Bowl and Iron Bowl because those were the states next to my home and I knew people at those schools. The Lonestar Showdown meant nothing to me Thanksgiving weekend cause I did not know anyone who went to school at those schools, the states were hours away, they weren't in the conference, and Aggies aren't a historic program. It was nothing but an interstate rivalry game to me. Hell the two schools have only played in a top 25 matchup 6 times since 1985. No top 10 matchups since 1975. Why would I care about this game? No different than Michigan vs Michigan State. Is that so hard to understand you fool?
And the point of the thread I started yesterday was about bama and vols both having a South Dakota coach win in death valley by 30 points. All LSU fans could say back was stuff about baseball, which has nothing to do with the thread topic. This is crazy that you remember my username enough to find it in a thread (I didn't even create) and continue a beef from yesterday that I stopped responding to cause it was pointless. You might need to spend less time on this site buddy if you're that obsessed and this angry. You are pathetic and I feel bad for you
