False He has thrown for way too many TDs and passing yards to be passed by inexperienced players.

Yeah and there are only like 3 teams with inexperienced QBs that aren't demonstrably more talented than Thorne. USC for sure, Kentucky, and Oklahoma although Arnold is very talented.

Before you say Vandy, you may recall Thorne and Diego Pavia squaring off once before.

Mertz issue is he plays it safely most of the time. It's why he has that completion % and low interceptions. Constantly throwing checkdowns on 3rd down when you need 6+ yards to get the 1st down.

How can you rank QBs who have never had any significant playing time?

It's just another mindless article for fans who really don't care about real info.

I would have Dart at #1.

He has a solid chance to end there. His passing stats are comparable to Beck but he has the added rushing ability. 400 yards and 8 TDs on the ground last year and 700 yards the year before.

Diego managed the game crisply as his whole team did unlike Auburn, but it's not like he is all that talented. He merely did what he was asked to do.

Mertz will finish 1st in pass rating -

Looking at the 2023 numbers for Mertz, he was very good.

How was Florida so bad?

OK, that explains why his 2023 numbers look so good.

I’d take Nico, Nuss and Arnold over Cook and Weigmann. I’d also put Milroe second. I’m afraid DeBoer will get the most out of him. Beck is fairly rated at number 1

True, but 2 things to consider, He threw to the open man, our receivers were not getting open on deeper routes. Secondly, you have to have time to throw deep, he was running for his life due to poor O-line blocking and a certain RB that is no longer with the program, not being able to pick up a blitz.

He was sacked what 38 times? and still led the conference in completion %?

Nico has barely played yet is ranked above LSU's Nuss lmfao.

Expect him to immediately skyrocket up these rankings as the season progresses.

Milroe is over-rated in this list, but because Deboer offensive staff and surrounding talent is so good, they have the ability to make him look better. But Simpson is still the better QB.

Mertz had 2900 yards 20 TD 3 INT 73% comp rate in only 11 games.

Seems underrated at 10th going into his second year in the system as a 6th year senior.

Ewers will finish the season on the bench. Probably on crutches. Dart will have the best statistics this year.

Not a bad preseason list
I’d change the order of the top 3 but whatever

I think by end of season Nuss will be higher and Milroe will be lower but it has to be proven on the field.

I agree but there are only 16 teams, can’t put him lower.

Looks like a credible source. Perfect for an early August sports post.
