Alabama’s fanbase isn’t built for basketball.

You simply can’t dominate the sport like you can with football. Truth is, Brandon Miller choked in the tourney. His team needed him to be THAT guy and he wasn’t.

At one point you actually thought you were about to start dominating college basketball because you were having a good season?

And you thought that would equate to a slew of national championships?

I can't help but notice that prior to Bama's game you are on here beating your chest - then once Bama gets beat you don't post for 2 days....

Listen new guy, nearly every poster on the Bama team page basketball thread has said exactly what you said. Miller sucked in the tournament and went cold at the worst possible time. We know that. We know it’s hard as hell to make a run in a single elimination tournament. We know that unlike football, one or two super talented NBA-ready basketball players can carry a team of five.

But if Florida can win national championships in both football and basketball, including back-to-back in basketball, with 11 Sweet Sixteens, nine Elite Eights and five Final Fours, Alabama sure as hell should be able to get closer than we ever have.

Sweet! That's impressive- considering how the Elite Eight was littered with SEC power! Talk about a feather in the ol' cap...

I don't understand this thread. Our great but young team lost in March to a team of Senior and "Super Senior" transfers. It happens.

Why exactly? Why "should" Alabama get closer?

Imagine if Miller and Clowney stayed around like Noah and Brewer. BAMA would be dangerous.

We’ve done it in mens and womens golf, gymnastics (six times) and softball, in addition to football. No reason in the No. 2 college sport Alabama can’t compete for championships semi-regularly. I don’t expect a run like football or even gymnastics, but Bama has the money and clout to recruit players and hire excellent coaches in basketball and at least sniff a chance at a national championship once a decade. Hopefully we have our guy now. We’ll see.

With the way Oats has been recruiting, I think we'll start having a solid core of seniors moving forward. Just need one or two stars like Miller to come in to help out.

ETA: And keep Oats, obviously.

Don't be so hard on yourselves. You're used to being Kentucky basketball fans this time of year so you're all just a little confused on how to act
