Davis became better as a recruiter. Even improved as a teacher. But some way overrate him. His fame has grown because of the 2015 DL. Many of which signed with Alabama when he was at Texas.

Who were the 2 big time DL recruits we missed that were Alabama leans that Davis was working when he left us?

He played under Saban at Toledo as a senior in 1990.

He's also got that cool cowboy look going.

I can only think on Trenton Thompson who was a very late in the day Signing Day commit to UGA. Of course he was from Georgia.

Just because they are highly rated, it doesn't make them sure shots. Just ask Aubie who has had several DL whiffs and transfers this decade.

I agree, but if you don't get to the plate, you can't hit a home run.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the other kid we missed on was from Texas.

We upgraded at recruiting at Ansley's spot. Sabes wasn't pleased with Ansley's recruiting overall.

With names like Sam, Richardson, Ealy, and Ray to his credit since Mizzou joined the conference, it is a phenomenal hire.

Great coach, good recruiter. Very excited to see the product he develops with UA talent and depth.

Feels good getting a tough as nails, rust belt, Pole on the Def staff; bit of nostalgia for old school football. It's what all football needs.

In 2016 we had great DL which scared off a couple of kids, but the only one I can remember that I regret was the guy from California who ended up at UCLA. I don't recall anyone from Texas who was a serious prospect.

Coach Kul wasn't known for his recruiting at the Zou, but I do know that he turned a lot of 3* into 5* and 2* into 4*. Can't forget Markus Golden who came out with Shane Ray who was one of the best sackers in the NFC for the Cardinals a couple of years ago. He was hurt a lot last year.

His only weakness is teams that run the triple option.(Auburn 2013 SEC Championship game and Navy when we where in the B12) Great hire Bama.

Pump those brakes.

Make no mistake, he was hired for coaching prowess and not his recruiting efforts.

Sabah is revamping his staff because every assistant coach that left was promoted, either to a better position in college or the same position in the pros.

In an ideal world you would have both elite coaching and recruiting. However, i agree that on oline and dline, i'd rather us have elite position coaching and maybe give up a tad in the recruiting aspect. We have tons of elite recruiters all over the staff, including at the head position, and they can pick up the slack if necessary.
