Saying Ohio State is scared of the SEC is ridiculous.

Scared may not be the correct word probably more along the lines of a risk/reward situation. They don’t even have to win their division to get in the playoff just can’t take a beat down.

This is a reasonable assumption.
There's gotta be a reason for the lack of play.

So why isn't Texas A&M scheduling Texas themselves?

I'm pretty sure that A&M wanted to continue the series but Texas wanted to cancel after A&M split for the SEC.

I don’t think Ohio State is quote, unquote scared of the SEC. Unfortunate that our series with them got canceled. Same with Oregon. Something about playing a big OOC game. I know logically for getting into the playoffs, the blue bloods don’t need to risk the big OOC game. Still I’m all for it. Makes those special Saturdays we only get 12 times a year even better

Gaw dang thanks for explaining it to me! The neutral site games have long sense outplayed their usefulness and now have the added negative that no program in their right mind will open the season with them. So, outside of random games with Miami we'll be getting a whole lot more Dukes and Louisville's than FSU and Michigan's.

If the game runners continue to put non competitive matchups in these games they will lose their usefulness for sure. That was not the point you made that I was countering though. You were criticizing the other 3 OOC games on the schedule and I explained to you exactly why those types of teams on the schedule are unavoidable. Brief recap: 1. Other big 5 powers schedule their big OCC games years in advance. 2. The ok sts and Georgia Techs of the world are not worthy of a home and home so even if they have an open date it's counter productive to land them for this year and then have to go to Stillwater or ATL next year. 3. Tv has made the middling teams think they are more important than they are and they demand a home and home as well(bonus point: most year the people who are bitching now would bitch about a UCF or Boise as well if they aren't in the middle of one of their better seasons)

We were told we "didn't deserve the honor of playing them" after we left the Big 12.

Alabama and Notre dame and Alabama Penn state should be permanent ooc games every year. Usc should be on a rotation like in the 70s. Home and home every 5 years would be nice.

I'd like to beat usc on Bama soil. 0-2 in Birmingham......but, we were 2-0 in los Angeles. From 1981 to 1990 we went 6-4 against Penn state during their winnings decade in history.
I won't get into our games with Notre dame

Y’all should just focus on Washington. Try not to shite the bed, embarrass the conference, and drag down everyone’s strength of schedule.

Another redneck who thinks they are part of the team. Too many of you all judge your self-esteem on the performance of 18-22 year olds. I guess it allows you to get up on Monday so you can brag about how great you are.

Truth is most Schools do not care about how much you hate the schedule. TV is controlling everything, and as long as the product can be protected by playing a weak OOC Schedule, the SEC will not force the issue. If UGA or UA had lost to a strong OOC team, the SEC would have not had a team in the Playoffs.

Well we already play the 8 game conference schedule and Clemson every year. Not quite as easy for us to add yet another top team as it is for the teams that don't have an out of conference rival.

USCw plays 9 conf games and Notre Dame every year. With that, they opened 2016 vs Bama in Dallas, play a 2017-18 home-and-home vs Texas, and a 2020 opener vs Bama in Dallas. USCw plays only 1 G5 team (early) and no FCS.

Ohio State's loss to Oklahoma didn't keep them out of the CFP, losing bigly to multi-loss Iowa did. 1-loss Wisc's weak schedule gave them zero margin for error. Wisc was #4 before their close loss to OSU. If Wisc had won that game they'd have gotten in instead of Bama, because Bama's SEC schedule and OOC schedule weren't very impressive. The SEC (and ACC) should play 9 conf games, like the other three P5 conferences, instead of the pathetic FCS games.

The SEC needs to play a 9th conf game instead of FCS games.

This and 1 OOC game against a P-5 team would take care of most all of the bitching.

The reason WISC didn't get in the Playoff was because the Committee said their schedule was weak. If you compared it to Bama's, you would not have seen much of a difference. Wisc just didn't pass the "eye test".

Interesting. I wonder why Clemson doesn't use that excuse.

What? You schedule AU and UGA sure, but we also schedule nearby foes in UNC and N.C. State. You had ND because of the ACC obligation.

Neither the ACC Champion nor the SEC Champion has been left out of the College Football Playoff whereas the champions of all three 9-game schedule conferences have been left out twice.

ACC - Florida State (2014), Clemson (2015-2017)
SEC - Alabama (2014-2016), Georgia (2017)
Big Ten - Ohio State (2014), Michigan State (2015)
PAC 12 - Oregon (2014), Washington (2016)
Big 12 - Oklahoma (2015, 2017)

Correct, but they play Arizona State and Cal every year. Those are basically half an FCS game each.

Just like 9 of the 10 Big 12 schools don't get to bitch about FCS schools because they play Kansas.

Timeshare, I have said it all along. Saban could have taken Ole Miss to the Playoffs and given 6 weeks to prepare, he could outcoached the other three coaches. It doesn't mean the team deserved to be there.
