Honestly, taking off the P&G glasses, Alabama is a bigger rival to LSU than LSU is to Bama.

Did you put the P&G glasses back on mid-post?

quote:top 15 all time in wins is not "solid, above average." it is technically 15-25 but, that's not really an accurate characterization is it? since saban, lsu moved up from around 15 to around 12. stop with the lsu football started with saban. it's stupid and makes you look ignorant.
Before Saban, LSU was a solid, above-average program historically with one elite run in the 50s. You were equivalent to Auburn, GTech, Clemson, etc. 15-25 range

quote:lsu is objectively top 15 all time in wins. again, you're acting like lsu was no big deal before saban. you even used the phrase "before saban" which shows you're trying to be a butthead
You found two sites that with odd timeframes that put LSU just above 15
quote:no, it really wasn't.
My assessment was fair and accurate

LOL Was I wrong? The only team that could maybe claim that I am is Tennessee?
Team Nat'l Champs SEC Champs Division Champs
Tenn 6 13 5
LSU 3 11 8
UGA 2 12 7
UF 3 8 7
Aub 3 8 8
Ole Miss 3 6 1*
I'll give you Tenn as more nat'l relevancy. I may have mispoken in reference to them. But I didn't "put the P&G glasses back on mid-post"

Well they claim 6...only 2 were major polls
I'm just giving AtlDawg the benefit of the doubt

There are a few ways to split hairs and judge LSU to be #2 in SEC history, but in the big picture, it is Alabama at #1 by a wide margin then several teams jockeying behind them. I would marginally include UGA in that group but I know we wouldn't be #2.
The way the initial post was worded made it sound like Alabama and LSU are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the conference in historical relevancy, when that just isn't true. Not yet anyways. Another title or two in the next few years would make it a plausible argument.

Genro tends to talk out of his arse on every board here. Pay him no mind. Very uninformed poster. After LSU wins the next two national titles, we will be a solid number two although I think there is a good case for it right now.

Sorry ATLdawg25...that wasn't my intent. I have no problem admitting fervently that Alabama is leaps and bounds better than anyone else historically. All I was trying to say is that they are historically the goal every team aims to be/beat. So in that way, they are the only team that historically is more relevant than us in the SEC, not that other schools aren't as relevant/closely relevant

Of course its a rivalry. If you asked any current players on any team, they would agree that they look forward to this game more than any other. If they say UT or AU, they are just playing to the fan base. These players are young and don't care about games played when they were little kids. If you think otherwise, you not in touch with reality. It has become a rivalry, its just in the early stages.
LSU looks forward to UF as well, but Bama is the 1 game that they wanna win more than any other. Bama fans down play it as if its no big deal. However, your coach usually schedules the bye before LSU and your players all look forward to playing this game. Apparently they view it differently than the fan base. And why would it not be a rivalry? Year in and year out, what other team has as much talent littered across the field, on both sides of the ball, than LSU? Just as Bama does!
These teams are mirror images of each other. Built on strong D, run-first offenses with multiple running backs, serviceable QB's (game managers) and mediocre special teams.

And has been ever since the Tiger finally broke that damnable home losing streak to 'Bama back in 2000 when Nick was on the other side of the field. The four losses in a row is bothersome but frankly LSU pulled a 'Bama in two of those; completely blown games. Les beat Nick in 3 of their first 5 meetings and I believe we're about to turn the Tide once again; pun intended. Here's to a great game on 11/7.

ri-val-ry competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field.
If you take the definition of rivalry its hard to argue that Bama and LSU have not been rivals for the last decade.
Rivalry brings up a historic context though. Historically obviously Tenn. and Auburn have been more of Bamas rivals.
We live in a what have you done for me know world so I guess in many peoples mind the Tigers and the Tide are the new SEC rivals.

A bullshite misleading stat that omits very pertinent information. Equivalent to saying most of LSU's losses come when wearing their away white uniforms.
No really, LSU just plays better in BDS

Except that the winner of the Alabama-Auburn game since 2010 has been in the National Championship or playoff, so it's still the biggest of the last several years.
LSU-Bama may get there over the next couple of years though.

Hey lil buddy the big boys are talking come back when your coach/team grows a pair and wins something.
Your team has put up with being 2nd place or worse in the east for so long we need to take up a charity for yaw.

Jackass, when LSU beats that Gump arse - said gump team will have 2 loses and on their way to a sandwich bowl while the Tigers go to the SECCG and another Natty!
