I just heard on the news, that the death toll continues to rise. My brother-in-law was found this morning. Unfortunately, he was killed. He was in a store in Tuscaloosa when the storm hit. Everyone inside the store perished. The thing that makes me feel proud of him is that they found his body on top of a young lady and an infant that appeared to be three months old. I told my wife that maybe he was trying to shield them from the storm. This is a sad day and I hope that every Bama poster on here made it safe through the storm. I'm glad that Montgomery didn't get hit. We just had a storm with heavy rain that lasted about fifteen minutes. Thank God those sirens never went off. My prayers are for anyone whose loved ones perished in this storm.

I just got chills down my spine. I think that is such an amazing act of bravery, if only the lady and child survived.

yeah it is. I will say too, that this site did a great service and was very timely with reports from other posters. I think everyone watching out for everyone else could attribute to the safety of some here.

Obama is coming I hear. Great, he'll take up resources that would be better used by the public.

hey guys - good to see you all well. Avondale88, i am so sorry for your loss. my best wishes for you and your family.

i flew out to MN this am, and it was a very sobering sight to see a line of destruction in both directions as far as you can see.

never thought of it like that hsv but you are right. his coming is probably halting some rescue efforts and other stuff.

Obama has to visit. Its just what Presidents do and people would complain if he didn't.

I'll tell you what - there is nothing more sobering than recovering bodies.

At a loss for words really

im not saying he shouldn't visit but imo presidents need to wait until primary rescue efforts are over before coming.

simply issue a statement on why you are delaying the visit because you dont want any of the rescue efforts to be delayed at all because of the logistics of a president coming into an area like that. visit next week.

I just don't think he should come to Alabama because the last thing America needs right now is a Presidential assassination.

I am too. My boss stayed at the office till about 9PM last night (online test and he thinks the office is safer than his house). When the tornado went through Birmingham, you could see it from our office and he said that there were shingles and other debris flying down the street.

he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. people will bitch why he's not there or why he is distracting everyone. i'm no obama supporter but i figure he is doing what he and his staff thinks is right.

It's a kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If he didn't come people would be pissed and say he wasn't doing anything.

He would be best to tour the area via plane or helicopter and land far away for when he talks. in an area that would not take away from relief effort.

Although, it would be incredible if you saw the president actualy helping by pulling up his sleeves and doing some manual labor and not just a photo op
