Save yourselves from frustration.
Anthony Grant squeezed out every ounce of frustration I have for Bama basketball already.

Now I'm fine to just sit back and see what happens for the future. Marshall won't come - but at least Bill Battle is firing some powerfull shots at a top tier guy.

But we're here today, and we have the money right now. Do you understand why thats better than some shite that may or may not happen in the future?

Everybody and their mother knows Indiana is waiting for Crean's buyout to drop after July 1st for that Indiana job to open up. It's waiting a year at the most.

How hard is it for you to not understand it's not always some big money dick measuring contest between boosters and that the new thing for these mid-major guys is to keep the status quo until the big job opens up? Like I said, this isn't football. You can be a successful NCAA tournament team as a small school.

We offered him essentially the same thing last year.

He'll wait out a blue blood job or he'll stay put.

And Greg will be one of many candidates with no guarantee of getting the job.

Like I said earlier, I don't know Greg marshall and I have no idea whats important to him. Maybe you're right and he's willing to gamble but the larger point which seems to escape you is that coming to Alabama doesn't remove him from consideration from any of the positions you mentioned.

I don't believe this at all, because if Mizzou was throwing the money around that Bama is then y'all wouldn't have ended up with Kim Anderson.

Unless y'all offered Marshall a bunch of money and then decided if he says no then no one else is getting a lot of money

I think Crean bought himself another year by making the tournament...plus with Thomas Bryant (seemingly) on the way, they might rebound.

Rick Barnes hanging it up might be legit, but I'll wait until its official before I really consider it.

Syracuse might be a darkhorse. Boeheim is done in "3 years". Basketball first school. Blue Blood. Fresh off sanctions at that point.

Edit: we "allegedly" offered him 3, but he turned it down due to this team, and his son being in HS. Kim Anderson was a panic hire to calm some of the "Norm Stewart is God" fans. More realistic fans like myself would have preferred Marshall or Archie Miller.

I never said it did remove him from consideration. Or that Alabama is a bad job. I just don't see a coach leaving a place he's built into a national brand to coach somewhere else for one year when there's some "dream jobs" on the very short horizon.

I've read that Marshall is ego-centric, maybe he likes dick measuring, maybe he'd like to double his salary maybe he'd like the SEC exposure????

Just because Marshall commanded that type of salary doesn't mean anybody else did. You can believe it or not, but do believe this Marshall to Bama has <0% chance of happening.

I truly hope that UA gets Marshall and not Smart. I think Marshall would make a lot of noise in the SEC. I don't see Smart doing that. The last 4 years he has at best bowed out in the second round. He has one Final Four, I grant that. It was 5 years ago and in his second season, I think. How many of those players were there before he got there? (I honestly don't know.)

Rip it up, UA...get that coach that tears up the SEC/NCAAs. It only helps all of us.

The man is 52 and $3 million is a lot more than $1.7.

Barnes needs to send a portion of his checks to Durant because he's ridden his coattails for so damn long. I honestly can't believe they haven't gotten rid of him before now. But I have to agree in terms of opening potential.

Hoosier fans are getting pretty damn antsy. I can almost hear them crying from across the river.

It'll be interesting to see the direction they go as well.

And of course is some other jobs maybe just beneath those big tier jobs open up as a result, you can consider those as well.

I was pretty stoked for Bruce Pearl to come to AU for all the reasons you mentioned!

It was weird on the last CBS EOB podcast they were treating Syracuse like it is gonna be a shitty job once Boeheim is done.

He also turned down UCLA.

You think they didn't offer big money? That screams that he's holding out for a very specific job.

Blee dat. It's why Alden is no longer an athletic director. Alden removed a bunch of coaches from even considering before the process began including Howland pearl EuStachy and probably a couple other targets as well. We ended up with Kim Anderson Michael White and Greg Marshall. It's my opinion that Alden sorely misread Marshall, thought he was coming for sure, ended up having to hire Anderson at the last second due to the money people.
