unlike Kentucky football, Bama basketball has experienced past successes and has fan support.

FWIW, Parrish said on his podcast that he thinks Marshall would be at ucla had they waited for him to finish the tournament. They got impatient and went after Alford.

Gregg is quickly turning into the basketball version of Gruden...

The School doesn't receive that revenue, the SEC takes most of that and distributes it throughout the conference.

That would be a benefit in Alabama's favor. The SEC NCAAT pie is so much bigger than the MVC. The MVC is a 1 or 2 bid league most years. Almost 200 more SEC teams have made the NCAAT than MVC teams. And the overall pie is just going to grow with the SECN.

But I refuse to believe Marshall will come to Bama. I really don't see any benefit for him. Of course I'd love to be wrong on that.

Longshot or no, it is probably better to try and get the coach you want.

People laughed when Michigan wanted Harbaugh, so you never know. . . I know this is not the same situation, but you might as well try for the absolute best that might be available... I am just glad Alabama waited a year.

You people who don't think there is legit interest from Marshall's side are incorrect. Also, Wich St. can get no where close to what we will offer, salary wise.

You're also a dumbass if you don't think the Sabans will be critical in the process.

Maybe Marshall is going to try and get as much as he can out of Wich St, but he's going to listen hard.

You don't know that. I would bet a ton of cash you have zero actually knowledge on the UA basketball coaching search.

Ah, coaching search threads. They're 75% talking about how deep the respective schools pockets are and 25% "my uncle's golf partner says" stories.

None of us know jack shite.

But the last time everyone told us how stupid we were for believing we would land a huge name as a head coach, his name was Nick Saban.

So keep the mojo going, it worked last time.

To those who would say Alabama can't win because of Coleman Coliseum, here is WSU's arena

Landing Nick Saban was helped along quite a bit because of your football programs history...you understand that, right?

Using that as your argument makes you look foolish

At the same time you were still Alabama Football. Ripe for a rise back into the #1 spot.

This is a little different. I'd be tickled if Alabama got Marshall. I'd certainly hope if Cal left that he'd get a look. It just doesn't seem very feasible at the moment with something like Indiana likely opening up in a year or less.

As I said earlier, I think some of your fans take as a perceived slight. It has less to do with Alabama as it does timing got Marshall IMO.

Yeah because Bammer got Saban means they are also getting Marshall. Just forget that Bama basketball has never attracted a big name coach

I'm not arguing. I'm just observing how "sure" everyone was that they knew what would happen.

But by all means, tell me how we have no chance to land a decent coach. You won't hurt my feelings.

I also remember that time that bammers thought they were going to get a big name coach but ended up with Mike Shula instead. Probably going to see a repeat for your basketball program

Grant was a big name. Didn't work out, but he was still a big name.
