It wasn’t pretty… people in there for no good reason except parents didn’t want to deal with them, or someone got a court order from their cousin to commit their brother or wife etc., forced medication…horrible. Then about 1980 Supreme Court changed rules and released many of those people.
Some of homeless issue started at that time, but god that was needed.,
One summer during college I worked for a landscaping company that got a big job at the VA mental hospital in Tuscaloosa.
We found out that you could not leave tools laying around. One dude took a break and left his rake propped up against a wall and when we got back a poor fella had turn the rake into a M60 machine gun and was laying waste to Charlie.

If you work EMS or law enforcement for no more than a few months you’ll quickly learn that the decision to free range virtually all our mentally ill is one of the worst health care decisions ever made.
Facilities and care should be professional and appropriate, but it should exist. The fact that it doesn’t now is a disgrace.

It’ll be his last chance. If the rumor is true, I hope Saban can straighten him out. If not, he’ll be cleaning stadium instead of fill them up.

Cold day in hell when Coach Sanan takes Bowl Cut left overs. Bama don’t need this dude. It’s going to catch up with Kirby. He is truly not that good of a coach but has the ability to talk crap and only knows how to negatively recruit against other schools. Just a South Georgia red neck who can’t put a sentence together without cussing. Only thing he brings to the table is working for Coach Saban. Dawg tries hard to be like Bama… never will.

This is generally true but Saban took a DL accused of beating a woman at UGA and dismissed by Richt and then had to dismiss the kid for another allegation at Bama
