it was great. I think a major part of the appeal for us what that it had literally never happened before so one could truthfully claim it as a "once in a lifetime" trip. We ahd only played once in the sugar bowl but that was the first on campus meeting.

Even though that doesn't hold true for bama/nd, that in no way will diminish the time you'll have. Our group flew into chicago on Thursday and went to some bars in the "main" area (don't really know what to call it). Friday we did touristy stuff, took the boat/architecture tour, walked around, etc. Due to some kind of anomoly (can't remember what) the cubs game was pushed from fridya afternoon to friday night so we got to experience that which was awesome. Our hotel was about .5 mile from wrigleyville and we killed hours just milling aroudn there. If you're looking for pizza, Lou Malnati's was fan friggin tastic, I thought pequod's was a tad bit overrated.

Then Saturday we drove the ~90 miles over to south bend. oustanding campus. It reminded me of UGA's north campus or the quad at bama, but the whole campus being like that opposed to one section. Well maintained and beautiful. They also had a bunch of old retired dudes in green blazers helping anyone and answering questions. Eveyrone was friendly and you didn't really see any trash talk at all.

All in all it was a great experience I'd recommend to anyone.

Hate to say it, but this series will be pushed back or canceled outright.

Notre Dame isn't the squad they used to be back in the day but they make for a great early season opponent. You know the game is going to go national and be seen at a good time.

Michigan, on the other hand, I wouldn't sign a contract with unless they put up 10 million in case they rabbit. They've backed out of series with us (excusable, they were getting a huge payday with Notre Dame) and just recently Virginia Tech (who they replaced with Sun Belt teams). Both on short notice.

Have a good buddy who went to Texas and he said the same thing when he went to the UT-ND game.

Sort of like opening the last 10+ seasons with Michigan, Wisconsin, USCw, Virginia Tech (2), Clemson, West Virginia, Florida State, etc.........

I think I heard something a while back that our admin liked it so much that we're stealing their idea and having old dudes around the stadium in blazers assisting out of towners.

Overall I think it's an ok idea that adds a little to the ambience, but I would only like it for the Austin Peay's of the world. For big time games I just don't think it'd be as useful.

Maybe you didn't understand what he meant.

Those good games have all been on a neutral field

Remember Bama, you have a precedent now for southern teams taking South Bend over:

We'll be there. Especially the older ones who remember ND getting the number 1 ranking when we deserved it way back before my time. They still talk about it.An elephant never forgets.
I made a gif of that UGA td catch. It was one of the best of the year.
