So you agree with the current system? Fine, but I don’t want to hear Auburn fans complaining when your team gets overlooked in favor of a team that hasn’t had a top 25 win all season. Who am I kidding, Auburn sucks and this won’t affect your dead football program, lol.

It means if you want all the major conferences to sign on to the deal, they won't sign unless they have some sort of guarantee. No conference is going to want to sign on and get left out.

Dude. IF and Until they change it big 4 champs get in. Period.

That’s the deal. No point to argue it.

The case for Bama, Miami and others is at large bids.

Personally I don’t think SMU deserved a large bid.

I also don’t believe if we we talking Bama as an at large that a 3 loss team should be in.

I would have put Miami in.

The rationale for who and who should not be an at large is a reasonable debate.

The ACC champ deserves an auto bid in a 12 team playoff. To argue otherwise is just dumb. Not in a 4 or 8 team playoff but 12 teams absolutely.

The Big 12 without OU and Texas is weaker than the SEC, Big 10 and ACC but still in a 12 team playoff is legit to have that conf champ in.

Also a high enough ranked ND should be in and the highest ranked non power 4 if they qualify. You can quibble but it’s reasonable.

At large bids are of course more subjective. Well all subjective to be honest.

If I picked all the at large just me SMU not in.

I would have Miami in.

Personally I’m not putting a 3 loss team in as an at large that didn’t make it to conf champ game in. I am LSU guy even if it was us I’d say no.

I’m loving these melts. You entitled pricks are getting a little taste of what LSU dealt with in 11.

It’s like Alabama fans just assumed they would be in “cuz Bama”, didn’t bother to follow any rankings prior to today, and have no idea how the bracket works nor why they’re sitting at home.

Some of them are just now realizing that playing a tougher schedule doesn't actually matter that much. Other teams have a much easier path to the playoff.

I’m not sure why you felt the need to contribute to this conversation? That’s all. Auburn hasn’t been relevant since 2013. I mean since 2020 your record is
6-5
6-7
5-7
6-7
5-7

No wonder you’re fine with the current system. Because it doesn’t affect Auburn. lol

What the hell are you talking about. You were in the title game in 11’. No one kept your offense at home, they just got shutdown by Bama’s defense. It’s becoming obvious that LSU and Auburn fans do not care about the current flawed system, they are only supportive because it kept Bama out. You bunch of flaming vaginas. 42-13. 28-14

Relax, Francis … even many bama fans I know say “we suck” about their team. And by normal standards, you do suck.

Don’t worry, everybody knows the tahd will be back real soon. Until then, just suck it up, buttercup

Imagine arguing a 3 -loss team should be playing in any kind of championship … sheesh

cheap whine …

Not all conf champs get in. Once you set up subjective criteria to take this champ but leave that one (with a better record) out, you have a flawed system.

Army only has one loss. Why should they stay home while a three loss team goes?

When you lost to Vandy, that was a massive sh*t seed. Don't be surprised, then, that it turned into a massive sh*t weed.

Because no matter how much Alabama fans cry about it, losses weren’t the only factor in the rankings.

Notre Dame
Indiana
Boise
SMU
Arizona State
Miami
BYU
Army

All of those teams are ranked behind teams with more losses or the same number of losses.

This bothers you, but you would have no problem with the committee ranking Alabama 30+ spots ahead of a team that just beat Bama by 28 and didn’t allow them to score a touchdown?

System is far from perfect. Alabama didn’t do enough to legitimately complain about being left out.

In my opinion this is very true. Anyone left begging for an 11th or 12th seed in the CFP has no right to be sad when they get left out. However, I’m also of the belief that 12 teams is 10 teams too many, but I’m in the minority there.

The fact that SMU, Clemson, Arizona State, and Boise State all have an outside chance at winning the CFP this year with the schedules they played just doesn’t sit right with me.

Also did the team that the Seahawks beat out to win the NFC West also get a playoff bid, because that’s what just happened in the ACC. Committee decided SMU was still 6 spots better than the team that they just lost to.

NFL does not have Division Championship Games, so not really a possibility. There have been many instances of where a "bad" Division winner has gone and hosted a home playoff game, but the "better" team from another Division was left out of the playoffs entirely.

In 2022, the 8-9 Bucs won the NFC South and went to the playoffs. The 9-8 Lions and the 8-8 Commanders were both left out of the playoffs.

There is no perfect format and the 12 team playoff is just a way to ensure the best 5 teams get in a playoff and avoid a situation like 2023 FSU.
