I know this will come to a surprise to you, and nearly every Georgia fan OTB but.....

Georgia is not Alabama.

Kirby Smart is not Nick Saban.

Wow...thanks for the heads up. Us Dawg fans sit around all day talking about how we're better than the the team currently on the greatest run in college football history.

Point is we'll be in the Benz. Want to play us, get there. You most likely won't.

Good post. For the most part. The two some of UGA & Bama have an amazingly similar in conf sched this year. Of the decent teams both play SCar, both play A&M, both play AU. Bama plays LSU and UGA plays UF. Dawgs got a better draw there. The two real threats capable on a given day to beat either are LSU and AU. So in reality we have two real shots at losing and Georgia only one in SEC play so yeah UGA has maybe an easier path. Problem is Alabama, if healthy, has some serious first team football players on both sides of the ball. One deep likely more than ever.

Both teams faded late probably because of the rapid fire big games and a bunch of coaches leaving UA. So both should be motivated to do well this year. Georgia returns most of their staff except for the OC. Alabama lost a couple of young guys they liked but told some of the hot shot recruiters to find something else so they could bring back in some real goon wranglers. We'll see.

Remember when you beat Bama, only to play them again, and not get past the 50? I remember

I don't remember that, because it never happened.

You know what else I don't remember because it never happened?

UGA having a winning record versus LSU - in their own house.

Better be careful what you ask for. LSU won their “once-in-a-decade” game vs UGA. Better not press that luck.
Oh really? Once in a decade?

Interesting discussion. Not sure who has the most talented roster. Alabama has the number one recruiting class in 4 of the 5 years that would make up the current roster. That would tell you that Bama still has the most talent. But with early departures, etc.who knows?

Interesting discussion.

It is. I just found it intersting that the OP dismissed Ohio State and put Texas in the top 5 then used one recruiting year when Texas took 25 recruits and Ohio State took 17 to justify Texas having more talent. This despite being outrecruited by Ohio State for the previous five recruiting cycles.

If you look at raw recruiting numbers and ranked talent by those metrics the top 5 in talent would be the following with placing numbers 2-5 in order debatable.

Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU and probably Oklahoma. This is using the 247 Composite which seems to be the most balanced perspective. Forgot Clemson. By raw numbers they don't seem to belong in the discussion but results on the field say otherwise.

really dude? Literally no one thinks we have a nick saban; that would in itself be impossible considering he's the best college coach of all time. Nobody thinks we have even remotely close to nick saban. Nor do we think we are alabama.

What our fans DO think is we have a promising young coach with damn good team that is on a great trajectory with an extremely high ceiling. It's amazing that our rivals constantly think they know what our fans think, but couldn't be more off the mark.

You benefit greatly from playing in the East. Let's be honest.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Auburn say hello.
3 teams with a combined 4 conference wins last season.

The west has its benefits as well.

I've found that to be a silly argument. From ~1993 to about 2008 the east was FAR better than the west overall. From 2009 to present the west has been overall better. But most of that west domination has been "bama then everyone else". Sure, I get the argument that if we played in the west we'd have to play bama every season, thereby making our schedule harder. And that's true. But people talk about it like we'd go 4-4 in teh west every season which is ridiculous.

Considering that 3 different programs from the West have won at least one national title in the past 20 years while only one team from the East has, it isn't that ridiculous. BTW, that one East team ain't Georgia.
