No. No, it's not.

This is nonsensical.

Cooper’s - Llano
Salt Lick - Driftwood
Franklin’s - Austin
Black’s - Austin/Lockhart
Hard 8 - Stephenville
Snow’s - Lexington

All of those are better than anything I’ve ever eaten in Alabama, and I’m sure I missed one or two. I lived in Tuscaloosa for the better part of 30 years, and it took me living in Austin about 6 months before I realized how average Bama’s BBQ scene is. 4 years later, and I’ve seen nothing to change my mind.

Horne's
Mike and Ed's
The Pigg Shack (best barbecue I've ever had at a restaurant)

Those are the ones whose names I can still remember that are no longer around. There were a couple more down 69, and one or two up 43, whose names escape me, that are not there anymore. And I'm sure I'm probably forgetting some. Plus you also had Woodrow's, Archibald's, Bama BBQ, the Pottery Grill, and Dreamland, all of which are still extant (well, I think Woodrow's is still around, anyway).

Full Moon BBQ is the best little pork house in Alabama.

One thing to remember when looking for bbq in Alabama is it’s almost entirely pork. It will be different from what you are accustomed to. A few places do brisket. I’ve been to many bbq places in Texas, but I’m no fan of beef bbq, so none of them impressed me, including Coopers in Ft Worth, which also does some pork.

Archibalds is the best option for pork ribs simply because of their sauce. They and Dreamland grill their ribs. They are not slow cooked and are a little tough. If you go to Dreamland, they have the best banana pudding around IMO. Full Moon and Jim-N-Nicks (not Nick Saban) offer brisket that is pretty good. These are both local chains.

It's true.

And Texas BBQ is average compared to KC.

1.
On the Strip

Downtown Tuscaloosa

Something new to try.
Roll Call. Roof-top restaurant in downtown Tuscaloosa atop The Alamite, a new boutique hotel co-owned by Coach Saban

2.
5-star, #3 QB in the 2022 class

3.
The Coordinators were the biggest drag on Alabama this season. The better WRs were Freshman who will get more playing time. RBs are deeper.

Isn’t even BBQ. Might as well just put ketchup on your meat.

1. I like Buffalo Phil's wings over BBQ personally.

2. Ty Simpson

3. I think our defense will be much nastier. I think our offense will be more consistent, so overall yeah the team will be better.

Dang man, never hit a single one of those in bold. Although we were mostly partial to Archibald's and Dreamland (Jerusalem Heights location before it franchised). It's awful now though, as you know. In general, the BBQ scene statewide is rather disappointing these days. Another sad reminder of a country-wide phenomenon of people losing their heritage and gravitating to 'quick, cheap, and easy.' Rodney Scott has the best ribs I've had in-state in years, which is an embarrassment considering they're out of state.

If you want decent on campus bbq but with a college vibe, go to Moes. Jim and Nix is also on campus and better, but won’t have the atmosphere

The best in town is Archibalds

Lightyears better. I agree.

There’s not a single spot in Alabama where people routinely line up at the door hours before the restaurant opens. At least not that I’m aware of. Maybe at Archibald’s on gameday.

There are entire documentaries on at least 2 of those I listed in central Texas.
