Not going to act like an isolated DUI really bothers me at all. Cops should have given him a ride home. Bet it was that t-town cop with the auburn tag on the squad car.

In the eyes of the Alabama DPS, state legislature, and court system...they are one and the same.

At least you admit it and are not trying to act like its really something that is okay. But no worries. Saban will not do much to him. He may even be back for the A&M game.

A lot of LSU fans PMSing in this thread.

Saban/Bama have really hurt your feelings.
That's odd considering how the Hill threads went

A lot more interest by Bama fans than the reverse

Is that supposed to prove something? I was unaware that our judges/politicians were scientists. Hell, they are about as far away from scientists as one can be.

Yeah, that any substance which impairs can get you tagged with a DUI in this great state.

I guess they felt that input from ADFS and NTSB would suffice.

Long story short, it isn't hard to get tagged for a DUI in Alabama. It doesn't excuse Smith's actions however. He should have used better judgment.

Bond was set at $1,000, according to the website. As of 11 a.m., Smith was still listed as an inmate at Tuscaloosa County Jail.

Worst I've personally seen from smoking and driving is my friend rolling into the car in front of him at the drive thru at about 1 mph because he didn't realize his foot has eased off the brake pedal slightly guess the munchies and the menu were to much to overcome

You obviously missed the point of my contention entirely. What the government deems as worse, or as bad as, is irrelevant. Don't be a sheep. Also, please explain what forensics has to do with comparing marijuana and alcohol. This will be fascinating.

Regardless, it's actually quite easy to avoid getting a DUI. Unless, of course, you're driving dunk like a dumb arse.

Well damn, maybe Saban should offer you a scholarship after your DBs got lit up by the LSU WRs last year.

No, I didn't. You are under the impression that a person can operate a motor vehicle "more safely" while under the influence of marijuana. Your contention isn't germane. The state has criminalized the act of operating under the influence...beer or weed, doesn't matter...the only difference is the particular subsection in which they charge you and what the state must prove to convict you under that subsection. IT IS STILL A DUI.

Well, let's see. ADFS issues the tox reports in which a purported green plant-like matter is determined to be marijuana. The process in which BAC is determined is set forth by rules enumerated by the DPS and encompass the procedures adopted by ADFS....so....should I go on?

Let me guess. You smoke, eh? Remember to check and make sure your tag light is working the next time you jump behind the wheel after burning one...

Half serious. I really don't care, and I don't see what punishment a coach can levy that will in anyway be comparable to the $2,000 fine, the 6 months monitored probation, the 90 days loss of license, the higher insurance rate, etc.

Any other punishment is minor in comparison and only hurts the team rather than the individual.

The only reason that the coaching staff would punish him is because the people expect them to punish him.

First offense and no one was hurt, let him play and let the legal system mete out the punishment.

NO, you stay a minimum of 8 hours, and just because you make bail, it does not mean you are released immediately. You have to be processed out, and on a Sunday morning, that can take a long time.
