ok I'll never be an SEC SEC banner waver. However...the NCAA basketball tournament pays out to conferences based on appearances and wins.

It's not just the current year, it is the running total for the previous SIX years. It appears, from the AP article, that each SEC team win is worth $282k (2020). It might be good for the conference but I'm not pulling for an SEC foe (unless they are in my bracket haha).
