He's signed through 2017, so unless he gets traded, he isn't going to be able to capitalize on this current momentum.

it's only his third real live action in the NFL... WINSTON had the same issues early in the season.
Are you comparing McCarron to Winston?

Interesting. It is definitely a totally different game in the NFL. I wish him luck. If the can just hang on for a couple of more years at least he will have a lifetime retirement and that is a hug help.

All it really took was a couple good games to earn Matt Flynn 8 figures.

no. point is, it takes time to adjust to real game speed. Winston struggled early in the year. The more AJ plays the game will slow down for him.

I do think that the Bengals may be willing to rework his contract a little if he at least gets them a playoff victory. Maybe not much, but a little thank you.....and some goodwill toward future negotiations if he continues to play well as a backup.

Maybe.
However, I think McCarron has limitations to his game that Winston does not, hence being a late round pick while Winston was #1 overall.
But to answer the original question, yes, I think AJ can and will make millions. He progressively improved throughout his college career, I see no reason why he couldn't do that at the next level, provided he doesn't end up with a real shite-show of a program.

Matt Flynn took advantage of being a step above average at Green Bay, with a great team behind him then, to get paid $36 million. So, AJ can definitely go that route but hard to say after only 12 quarters or so. Dalton is the starter, make no mistake about that.

It may be in the best interest of AJ if Dalton comes back next week. AJ leaves on a high note. In doing so he protects his performance and profit. He doesn't need to digress, but to keep the positive in people's minds.

I wouldn't worry about him too much, even if your prediction probably won't come true.
The guy is a winner at life, and I think he will probably continue to be.

What? I'm sure this made sense in your mind, but crap. Did you go to auburn?

He'll end up about like Matt Flynn, who looked amazing the first time he played as a starter.
I think he can be a starter. He is a winner. I always thought he was way underrated. Hard for me to admit, but I think he's better than Flynn.

Backup QB in the NFL is a pretty good gig. Great money and then you can transition into a sports talk radio job and never really have to work.

I didn't go to Auburn, but My Oldest Daughter did.
I don't give a crap about The NFL personally ( I don't care about any professional sport, might as well watch somebody getting paid to paint a house) ,but I understand how hard it is to become a successful NFL QB. Even if you have the talent, timing has to be right, and if you weren't a first round pick, with a big initial investment riding on you, you may not get the opportunity. The Buyouts and stuff, make things more complicated.
A.J. Is a tough guy though, and he has always made things work for him. Pretty sure he will again.
Also, I didn't say that itwon'thappen, I said "probably won't"

Back up QBs always look good on good teams. Look at New England , their backups always look good but never do anything .he could get a chance to be a starter some where next season for a bad team.

He'll be around long enough to make good money and get his pension. By any measure, his career will be successful.

Even if not, being the next Jeff Rutledge during this era of pro football wouldn't be bad.
