Their dline looked very dominant against auburn. Is the Aggies Defense really that great or is auburn oline worse off than Arkansas bad oline? I do feel like Arkansas has a better QB than auburn. And I know Petrino will put up points against our secondary. Any input from Aggies?

I think Auburn is just all around putrid across the board.

Both, Auburn is terrible and the Aggy DL is absolutely stacked.

Most of the sacks seemed to be the fault of the Auburn quarterbacks as opposed to the A&M defense or the Auburn offensive line.

Auburn is god awful at QB. They had WRs running free all game long but their QBs usually couldn't see them and when they did couldn't make the throws.

I expect another hard fought battle. Hogs even hung close with Aggies in the Morris years. Should be a great game in Dallas. Really wish the games would move on campuses though

We’ve seen both, depending on what Durkin calls. He’s very unpredictable about when he wants to bring pressure.

KJ is light years better than the Auburn QBs though.

Auburn is pretty bad. Arkansas can win this game if we show up. If Enos keeps on unleashing the passing game to open up the run game we can score and win. A&M QBs don’t scare me as much as JD did and they’re not as mobile so we can get to them. Gonna be a good game.

Maybe it move to each campus if we don’t play each other every year after 2024. Tho, I always hear they keep the game at Jerry World for recruiting purposes. I always thought Jerry kept the game there on purpose to watch his Hawgs.

This... he should have beaten us last year with a crappy MO ST team.

LSU found the weak point. Petrino will throw daggers in that direction until someone bleeds

The magic bullet to beat Thorne is to blitz the shite out of him.

He's very indecisive and gets rattled easily, he also is too slow to be a consistent running threat vs SEC defenses.

I thought the play calling, especially early, was good, Freeze and Montgomery just don't have a quarterback. Spencer Sanders should have went there.

Missouri State also needed a few Arkansas turnovers, including one where we fumbled at the one yard line to be anywhere in that game. And we still beat their arse. To hell with Petrino.

A&M DL is stacked with future NFL palyers.

But Durkin has an inexplicable tendency to keep them on the sidelines, repeatedly go with just a 3 man rush, and rely on the younger, thinner, and less talented secondary to do all the heavy lifting.

So ....

No, our d line should be great but it’s not

Auburn was an illusion, we looked way better than we are

I want to half way agree with you Krampus. I’ve seen Overton play as a “LB/DE” hybrid. Maybe my eyes played tricks on me. But I could have sworn we did have 4 DL (if you include Overton) on the field tho we only lined up 3. It’s something I’m going to check out if it’s happening this week.

Auburn doesn’t have a QB who can hit the broad side of a barn..

When a defense knows you can’t throw the bal.. your offense is totally screwed.

See 49-0 last year.

Texas wasn’t that much better than OU last year, but Gabriel was hurt, and the backup couldn’t throw.. at all. No joke.. I bet half of tRant posters could throw the ball better.

It was ugly.

This game was kinda like that game. The Aggie DL feasted all game long. Now they are great.. probably Top 5 in the country from a talent perspective..

A&M Defense has had holes so far though. Last year, you could run on them all day long. This year, it seems the script flipped and they are super vulnerable in the secondary. I don’t know their DB’s well enough to know why.

If Durkin plays with 3 DL.. KJ is gonna feast imo.

If Durkin switches it up and plays 4 DL.. it might be a really long day for the hogs.

4 DL
1 Spy
with a mixture of man or cover 3
and occasionally sending 1-2 extra guys

Aggies would probably win the West.

Durkin is very multiple, and not all of those three man fronts are what they appear. For example, on the 3rd and 25 when Auburn was just on the edge of FG range, and Sylla made a great tackle in space on the edge, he was lined up like a cover guy. But he wasn't really there to cover, and he didn't count as a down linemen - even thought he's a rush end.

I’m seeing what you’re seeing. Let’s see if Arkansas can tell which LB is really a DE lol

Especially in the first half there was zero threat of Auburn hitting a pass more than 20 yards downfield. Not sure it would have mattered if we covered the receiver or not. A few throws were 6 feet over receivers heads. This allowed us to completely focus on the run.

Ags will have to play honest defense vs Hogs if KJ throws like he did vs LSU.

Most likely Durkin will respect the pass a hell of a lot more and we will rush 3 or 4 most of the game and play almost too conservatively on defense. KJ will have time to throw. This will be close game IMO.
