It's been a strange year.

Yep so maybe I’m wrong but I think that the way moving forward. An easier schedule may mean you more than likely make playoffs but you will likely have less room for error. If they lose another game it could mean they done make playoffs.

Indiana has earned that right to be in the playoff with an undefeated campaign so far.
They get Ohio State in 2 weeks
They get Ohio State in 2 weeks

Agree - and they have to win that game, or at the very least make it extremely competitive.

Confused as to why the Big 10 is getting such inflated schedule rankings. Penn State has exactly one team on their entire schedule that's currently in the top 25 and they lost to them.

It's not our fault that Florida and Michigan decided to take a season off. We can only play the games in front of us.
That being said, we better win out the regular season or the committee will, and should, hold that against us.

Depends on when we lose it. If we win out then lose the sec champ game I think we're in. If we lose another reg season game and miss the conf. championship game then we probably will, and should, be left out.

Some schedule maker in birmingham was tired of UGA stealing bama's spotlight the last 3 years and made sure a stop was put to that pronto.

Fair enough, I just disagree, and think it's unfortunate that they could knock out a one-loss SEC team, for example.
How can you fix this without further causing distress or major realignment? I don't know.
I realize they've done all they can given their schedule.
To me the problem is that there are too many teams without a system to weight them accordingly. In CBB with the NET for example, a team ranked at 125 would never make the NCAAT simply because they're undefeated — it takes more than that into account, including the quality of their opponents (Q1, Q2...).

The rating is for games played so far. Tennessee playing Georgia and Vandy rating will go up. But we will have to wait and see.

If y’all lose to Georgia. Ole miss definitely will jump Tennessee. We’ll have wins over Arkansas and Georgia. The only thing y’all can say in y’all’s favorite is y’all beat Kentucky

I've been dropping this concept here for a little while — Indiana is a fun story, but the idea that they "deserve" to be up there is ludicrous.
And maybe they do, but there's nothing to indicate that yet. (And I'm also rooting for Curt Cignetti since he was under Saban at Alabama.)
Same with Army. I caught some prognosticators this weekend saying it was shameful that they weren't included. By this metric, their SOS is 129.
This is another glaring reason why I believe we'll eventually move to the superconference model. There's no way to guarantee schedule parity unless you have divisions, champions, wildcards, etc. like in the NFL. And you can only do that with fewer teams under consideration.
I don't think it's a coincidence that we constantly see teams like this doing great while having a weak schedule. It's over and over again.
While it's completely possible that they are a great team and haven't been able to show it, it's pretty much a safe bet that it's not the case. Just like it wasn't the case with many others that suddenly seemed great out of no where on weak schedules.
The upside here is that they are in the Big10 so eventually they'll have to play someone. Unlike a G5 team where it's most common.
They didn't have such a great time against an average Michigan team. They have bye next week before playing Ohio St, so if they can't win that, then shouldn't be in the top15.
One thing I like about this metric's SoS is they jump up a bit after playing Ohio St. It's not an average, so it recognizes the more difficult game. It's not going to be huge in terms of overall rankings, but it should be a bump and their expected losses should increase.

Tennessee's SoS jumps up quite a bit in playing Georgia this weekend. Ole Miss' will stay the same with a bye.
Yes. I expect Tennessee will have a slightly tougher schedule than Ole Miss after this week.
2 weeks ago Ole Miss had the easiest schedule in the SEC with Tennessee barely above them. Since you both have the Georgia game, I figure after this weekend it will even back up again.
quote:
43. Tennessee .61
49. Ole Miss .56
As you can see, Tennessee hasn't had much movement, but Ole Miss is now double what it was now.
Of course, if Tennessee wins then it's not really going to be such a great win for Alabama, Ole Miss or Tennessee anymore.

They aren't really.
There are 10 SEC teams with a higher SoS than Penn St, and they are just barely ahead of A&M. So take a look at A&M's schedule and it's comparable.
However, considering the remainder of the Penn St schedule, more SEC teams including A&M are going to pass them. So in terms of Penn St they'll end up with what's considered a very weak SEC schedule.

You lost to Alabama in the 4th game of the season.

And now Florida is an away game for Georgia?
Stop being a bitch.

We have one loss. If we lose to Georgia, then it's an argument, and the SoS will jump. And that's if Ole Miss makes it by Miss State and @Florida with Lagway.
Ole Miss should've forfeited that Georgia game for being so collectively dumb they stormed the field 30 seconds early.

So Bama is slightly underperforming. About what we all figured I think. Saturday night looks like a big turn in the right direction, provided we don't shite the bed again.
LSU defense just sucks even worse than Milroe’s passing game, reading defenses, and other qb things. Hopefully Alabama can win the rest of the games because, though OU and Auburn have better defenses than LSU , they struggle on offense, plus Milroe is off and on, boom or bust. The Auburn game is at home

I have to agree with this. Ive been watching their games since UCLA because I like their coach. If you asked me a week ago, they would deserve a playoff spot. Unfortunately for them their best OL got injured 2 days before they played Michigan, and they do not have the talent at backups. They had to dedicate a lot of help to his backup against Michigan and it blew their offense up.
Nice underdog story, but they just do not have the depth to play with the big boys.

Looked to me like Milroe stopped trying to be Joe Montana and used his legs.
