After the LSU game. Dumb move. Since A&M joined the SEC only Alabama, Georgia and LSU have more conference wins

Really dumb. What is he even coaching for now

The fact that other teams fans don't like it means it's the right call.

If you believe the reports out of FSU, Jimbo is leaving for the job. If that's the case its a no brainer to fire him.

Jimbo, Gruden and Kelly all hired this year. Impressive.

Really? Georgia and LSU have also both fired their coaches in the past year or two and both programs are arguably better off for it.

Agreed.
If they do it before the game, maybe it will motivate Aggy to win the game for the first time this century.

I find that stat hard to believe, how about since JFF, a oline he didn't recruit, and Kingsbury left?

I'm hearing that the source for CBS Sports is Mrs. Sumlin.....

No hurry, A&M is a basketball school. Plenty of time to worry about football before next year.

If A&M hires Jimbo after LSU missed on him, this site would be an absolute gold mine.

Well, with ATM now hiring, who does that bump down to tier 3 candidates.

Most people aren’t overzealous message board fans.
(a) Players tend to support, rather than oppose, their coach..
(b) Professionals in the AD recognize that letting a guy go after the season—using dignity and class—goes much farther with other coaches in the fraternity than does firing a guy one game sooner, just to be heavy-handed about it.

I agree with this. If A&M has the chance to grab someone like Jimbo, its absolutely justifiable to part ways with Sumlin. A&M could be a force in the SEC west with the right coach. I just don't think Sumlin is the guy to take them there.
He also blew a 34 point lead to a PAC team.

Twitter and message boards seem to be sources for some "journalists" and talking heads.

Sometimes, the players do play a lot harder after the firing. It's been known to happen. Almost like they were phoning it in. Saw it happen twice at LSU when Hallman and DiNardo were fired. Then again, it could've just been that Arkansas really sucked that bad those years. But also saw it play out at Oregon State this year for the first couple games after GA quit. There was a very noticeable difference in team effort.

No doubt. But you and I know they'd make the move in a heartbeat if that's what it took to land the coach they want. This is a business first and foremost and the players and coaches all know it.
That aside, I agree there's no reason to be dickish about it.
And I highly doubt the administration is worried about the short term impact of winning or losing the LSU game when it's the long term impact of the pending hiring decision that matters infinitely more.

Exactly.
I can all but guarantee you that, based on the sudden public nature of all of this, Sumlin’s replacement has been secured.
Sumlin will coach the final two games then move on to another gig.
I genuinely wish him the best.

Final one game. Sumlin will not coach the bowl.
